Dont know yet just started researching it, bidding on a HSR 45 now
-
Yeah he has the HSR 45. Do you think the VM44 has a much different carb inlet?
-
My brother actually has a ds 650 he has 2 intakes the stock and some after market one. I'll have to compare the fitting! he's running some big mikuni carb as well I'll keep you posted.
That would be a HSR 45 or a 48 carb, Might be running a Ron Woods intake also.
-
Mitch wha do you say?

This is exactly what I have been asking about. The only thing is that the VM44 has a bigger air bell than the PWK39. If one of these could fit a zilla chassis with a VM44 or Lectron style carb, than we would be on to something. On a side note, I saw somewhere where drag racers were experimenting with zilla and DS-650 intakes. What does a DS-650 intake look like & has anyone here tried one?

Like to learn more about this, You can really see that the 6" inlet would help the LT even more Good Find!
Even better yet, wouldnt this fit the 44 round slide better also?

Thanks Mitch! and I'd imagine it'd fit the 44 just fine.

and yes I know there's faster zilla's than mine! dont think that I think i have the fastest zilla
-
I'm not for certain that it's better....Although this intake has shown huge gains on dyno's and in the "real world" for the yfz. Allen Knowles told me this intake would make decent power over the stock. The shape to the huge expansion was his reasoning(thats beyond me though) I do have to say I went from a trinity built zilla to CT's and there's no comparison!!! the CT makes great power!!! It smokes built 450's :) I can't say thats because of the intake though hahaha
-
I have to ask why you feel thats better than the stock intake boot with a adapter like the Sblt??
-
Very nice set up...you guys just keep finding ways to spend my money :)
-
ok so the intake tube is for the yzf also, and what size is the carb side, did you have to make something for it to fit there also.
good info right there, thanks
I'm using a 39mm PWK keihin carb. The Intake tube's hole is the same size as the side of my carb. I just used the rubber mounting grommet Allen gave me it's about 3-3.5 inches long and with the diameter being a snug fit on both the carb and intake tube, I havent measured the side of my carb so i dont know the exact length/diameter. I also used two hose clamps on both ends for the mounting but you really want to use some sort of bracket as well with the length of the tube being long that way there's no movement and better flow.

Which application is your intake? I didn't see one for the Zilla on their site
YFZ 450 I was told it's the only one that will fit with our shock placement. I also have a YFZ with the same intake so I made sure it would work before the purchase. Only modification is the FCI bracket(wasnt hard though) Allen Knowles is the one who gave me the idea and said it's probably the best way to go.

Here's a pic of it before I made the bracket to a custom fit.
-
Well I'm running a Fuel Customs intake with no air box so It's getting air
Let's see it.

We seen 6 HP increase with a Open Air Filter 8-9 inches (Alum Bracket) and using a 41.5 carb, with no loss in bottom end, the LT500 likes to breath!
-
I run a CT ported motor with their outlaw pipe and I'm bored to 540. You really feel it hit hard in the mid and then it just keeps pulling! I'm running a 39PWK carb though. How much of a differnce would you expect between my bike and this one?
-
Looks like CT porting isn't as bad after all
-
not much down low but come alive around 6k

Here is a PDF.

i have a ct top end that has the HUGE exhaust port also, it is way larger then any other one i have seen or that i have. even bigger then the
almost famous Q 540hrd. i never got to run it, but when it was given to me the guy said that top end hauls the mail.. thanks for the post Jerry.
i will try to measure mine to see if it was the same as that one, if you think you might remember what that one was. but mine had a little more porting
done than just the exhaust.
-
Jerry can you post this in a different file format? I don't know what a .xps file is and neither does my computer.

I do not know how many different porting setups CT offers but this one had a huge exhaust port with not much else done to the other ports.
Set up:
HPR TM 41.5 Mikuni
No air box with large foam filter mounted to stock airbox to carb hose.
CT porting
HPR 19 pipe and silencer
