I have not seen a post from Subby for ever---Is he still around?
-
Any word on that airbox Subby?

I am finishing a airbox w fully shielded 5" filter. 4" diameter intake and carb side aswell. with an internal AND external velocity stack.
Fits all lt's and boots parts etc. no modification needed. Bolt on. Plug and play.
Some will love it some will hate it. I will post pics in a few weeks. Im fresh out of Paint here again......

Ya the 87-90 is the easiest chassis to do and the best form carb clearance.
-
Is the 87-90 Chassis better for carb maintenance and tuning? That to me is better than not having an airbox.
-
Not the easiest to convert you have to notch the backbone for carb cable clearance. And there's something else I think. Once together the carb is a royal pain to get at to work on. But for a setup with an airbox probably the best bet, I use one of SBLT's aluminum ones on my 250 and its the best for a filter hands down. uses a 250r honda set up.
I am actually considering doing another hybrid with a 92 chassis just because of the Airbox, but it depends on if I get started building a whole new frame or not. I have to clip it and hybrid mod it so by the time I do all that I may put the time towards a X.

i did the same thing as you, Carl, but on a 500. Built my airbox but then realized i didnt even need it (Small filter and very restrictive) Now i just run an airbox eliminator with a big AEM.
Obviously if you like to take your bike through the mud often this isnt a good idea.

Carl - would you say the 91-92 LT250R is the easiest Hybrid to convert? I am looking to do a standard wheelbase all-round use conversion.

What year frame? on a 91-92 yes. 87-90 is a lot harder not much room for a filter once you fit a box. I built a box once and by the time it was done was not worth running, but I also only had a break at the time. you can hack a up a oem to work but again small filter.

Can you run a 250 or 500 airbox on a Hybrid Conversion?
