250 fronts are shorter i believe.  Hybrid guys will some time run the 500 front shocks but it requires you to build a new top shock mount that sits over the top of the frame out of 1" tubing.  You will also need to have the shock re-valved for the 250 chassis.

i believe the 250 front shocks are slightly longer than the 500.
