There are later models that had swingarms you could use on your 85'. I have an 88' and I believe it would work. There are a few things you have to do though. I have no clue what they are but I believe there is a thread on this site that covers this topic.

Hello everyone! I am new to the site but have had an LT250R for about 3 years now. I'm currently in the process of trying to get my LT back to its prime. She still runs great but my rear swingarm is just blasted out! I'm open to all idea's wether it be an implant or a factory cross. I dont know alot about my machine except that i can climb the big hills with the best of em'. I don't wanna get rid of the machine i only paid $700 for the thing and it will walk all over most 4 strokes up the sand hills around here. Any help is welcome please and thank you in advance.
