Check for worn grooves as well.  If you have any, search for a Hinson billet aluminum basket on eBay.

fix it, any movement will cause more stress and make them break faster.
Title: Loose clutch basket rivets

How loose can stock clutch basket rivets be before I should worry about them?  This is just on a stocker just to see how well I can make it run.  It needs an overhaul anyways.  I can move the gear back and forth independently from the aluminum basket quite a bit and I can spin the rivets with my fingers.  I know it needs a new one but will it explode?  I definitely don't want to blow parts through the cases or gears.  Not going to the dunes or anything like that.  Probably won't leave my yard.  And is the hinson basket the way to go or is a replacement new stock basket the right choice?  Thanks.  And i see I posted this in the 250 section  It is actually on a 500.  Nathan
