I just got rid of a pair of Pure Sport Realtors that was on an ATC parts bike I had. They are heavy but they have lugs that are paddle shaped that would work good on a higher powered bike rather than on something like my Honda ATC-185.

My lt250r  had a brand new set of 22 / 11 / 8 Carlisle  Stryker's  on it when i bought it. They were good in deep sand and mud, but sucked everywhere else because  of the rounder profile.  Plus the sidewall would roll over on itself  power sliding through the corners.  The cst pulse  i run now are a cut corner lug flat track style  tire . I can still spin them but they pull harder than the holeshots  i have swapped  on it to try. They power slide  almost as easy  as the holeshots.

Iv got hole shots and another par that are really similar and like them more than the directional set I had when I bought the bike... They allow you to play around slip and slide some but wheelie on the sand ... The directional a I had hooked to good and wanted to wheelie all the time so I couldn't drift ar do doughnuts lol I try to make sure I run a couple sizes taller in the front so my frame has a rake to it and help with Caster a little ... I know this is all a personal preference so my advice is try as many different styles as you can and learn what works best for you... Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies. I'm kinda suprised by the responses.
Thought I would hear more about tread patterns similar to the Spider tracs, Blackwater, or it mud lite. Due to their heavy duty paddle style lug patterns, considering the soft sandy trails.

I run cst pulse 20/11/10 on the back of my 85 lt250r  they hook  better than the new holeshots on my sons 230 quadsport. They have taller lugs than a holeshot spaced a little  farther apart , and are a harder compound.  They are advertised  as a 6 ply ,but when i got them they are 4 ply but said to have a 6 ply rating.  They  been all over  gladwin trails , bull gap and silver lake dunes. No problem  getting up the biggest hill at silver lake in third gear.  Probably  could pull forth but the jones' are always  parked on top so your shooting between  parked trucks  praying knowone walks in front of you.   I wouldn't  mind having  paddles  for the dunes. But no complaints  about them .  When the holeshots  wear out on the quad sport  i will buy  a set of cst pulses  for it as well.

I'm on the left coast, but when running out in the desert (hard pack, rocks, sand, silt) I've had pretty good luck with the Holeshot HD and XCT tires.  The XCT tires come in 23" front and 22" rears.  If your looking for ground clearance then these help a bit.

Also ran the Razr II's for a season.

They both were good tires with no real complaints.  Get at least 4 ply, but preferably 6 ply.  They are heavy, but IMO that is what you want for trails, sticks, rocks, etc...

Grooved Tamers is how i like to roll.  Light as a feather.

I recently bought some holeshots.  Not sure how i feel about them yet.

I ran holeshot HD. They gripped great. I personally will never run anything but 6ply tires in the trails and nothing under 20". One the old zilla, I love the 22" tires. The extra ground clearance is huge in rutted trails or trails with lots of **** you have to get over.

I use to have cut turf tamers on the banshee, they were great for fields and hard packed **** but they were too weak for any rough trails.

I just threw on a set of cst ambush tires. 18" they hook up good. Rode some sand trails few weeks back. Spun a bit but all in all they worked well. In the dirt they hook really really good. Before those I was running duro tires the flat track tread pattern. Those tires were awesome. I forget the exact name of the tire. My friend just put a set of pulse tires on his high horsepower banshee. He said they hooked really really good. Had holeshot mx6 on before and they just spun. Also have experience with Kenda klaw tires. Those are some sweet tires also.

Thats a challenging one.  I have been running radial rear tires and I am liking them.  Currently have dunlop quadmax sport on the rear. But unfortunately they are discontinued. SO next set of tires I am going to buy is ITP holeshot SR radial rears.  They seem to hook up better and is about the only thing that my zilla will hook up with on dirt.  Also used these tires at bull gap this past year on my honda 250r and beat my buddies 850 sportsman to the top of the hill every time and he was even in four wheel drive!!  No issues with punctures or anything either.

Hey all,
I was interested to her from ya'll about your favorite woods/trail tread. I just got back from my first trail ride this season in central Michigan. Lots of sand!! But also a fair amount of hard pack. I've always ran my Holeshots and I'm curious to here about some alternative trail treads that work well in all that sand but won't tear apart on the hard stuff. Thanks!
