Title: Loose Clutch Basket

So i was over at a friends house the other night tearing down his 500 motor after a recent failure.

Checking over it for damage, i found some light grooves where the clutch basket hit the inside of the cover.  The basket definitely has a little play in it.  What would cause that?  would it just be the bearings, thrust washer, and spacer behind the basket?
