Title: Re: crank bearing pocket question
Post by: 4-tracker on February 25, 2016, 10:19:13 am
Thanks for the help here so far!
I called Trinity racing now Mcdermott racing in cal. Talked to Harry. He's very sure crank is fine, that its almost always the cases that go first! He has performed this service for many years to many Zilla's. They take both half casings and install brass sleeve's then press in new  bearings. 2 week turnaround, $330. 909 3731462
 I'll send them out soon!

There's an older guy in yale named Bud.

He has a lot of zilla parts( I got a frame from him this summer, and another from his son just the otherday) .

He has been know to do a lot of zilla engine repairs and machine work.

He's in his late 60's and sometime's he can or will be rather Rude with people if they don't pay attention to what he tells them. But a Great guy to know if you can humble yourself and respect his time.( Guess it's the Hard Ass oldschool Marine in him )

Last I heard he was getting out of the zilla scene(family and health issues) but still tinkers.

Hoping for as little expence as possible yet want her done right, too!

Title: crank bearing pocket question
Post by: 4-tracker on February 24, 2016, 05:36:41 am
Bearing gasket popped out. noticed slight movement on crank rod. Will open up cases soon.
Question - What is worn? If its the aluminum case will the case need to be machined to fit a sleeve? If so best places near or in Michigan?
Also is there a quick fix to cement new bearing into worn pocket? Read there is a plastic insert that works better than metal types?
Is this why the seal popped because of crank wobble?
Sorry for so many questions yet I'm sure many of you have had this silly Zilla situation. Thanks
