Its not because the cable is short ,But the cable covering is to long for that make of carby.

Have struck same issue ,you have to cut some of the outer cable cover on the carby end quick fix .

should i just skip the whole deal and order a billet thumb throttle or does anyone knownwhat cable to use ... i assume there is a cable because duncan used these carbs for years with stock thumb throttle...

Because I'm cheap I always mill out the thumb throttle casing to increase the length of pull of the cable but it means that you end up with a big stupid throw on your throttle. A good option is probably a thumb throttle off a Honda 450r or 250r because they have a levering mechanism inside which will pull a long slide without a huge amount of throw.

im trying to retain my stock thumb throttle but when i try to attach the PJ 41.5mm carb the cable is so short the slide is a long ways from closing .... anyone have this issue before me and whats the best way to solve my problem... and when i buy a new aftermarket thumb throttle assembly will i have the same issue all over again.
