Try Parts zilla as well
-
thanks for the first hand experience , and post.
I have used bike bandit in the past , but I will try the other place now as well.
you guys here at QR HQ rock .... +k2

$374 at motorsportssupercenter.com (for F/G models).
They usually have the cheapest prices but beware of long shipping times.
I use both bikebandit.com and motorsportssupercenter.com for my OEM purchases.
I use bike bandit (more expensive) if i need it quick then motosports for everything else.

Worst news on here. Jason was and still is the man. Hes living it up working for another company outside of the powersports industry.

Thanks for the notice Gillio.

Slightly off topic, but Jason is no longer with Honda East. So i dont know how long the discount code will work, if it still does.

Like said above your best bet is probably a new CDI. When I rebuilt my Zilla from the ground up in 2010, I read for months on the QRQ site that closed. The best bet was stay with OEM electrical stuff. I purchased the Ricky Stator high output charging coils but they failed after a few months. So, I scanned eBay for a few months buying used OEM electrical components until I had all spares for my 88 Zilla..... Coil, Stator, CDI, flywheel.
I had the 2nd flywheel lightended, welded, and balanced. That failed on me within a year. I'm back to all stock OEM stuff that is 27 years old. Knock on wood, they still work great. If you can afford it and before the OEM decides to stop producing the part, you just can't go wrong with a new one.
I just found on Toledo's Parts finder that an 1988 CDI (PN#32900-01C00) has a MSRP of $510 but a selling price of $382. Wow, that is actually cheaper then I thought it would be. Forum members get a further discount too..... I would look into that if I was you.

If your still wanting to try used CDI's, I purchased my 2nd electrical set from "The Quadzilla Kings" on eBay in 2011. I don't see any quadzilla electrical stuff for sale right now from them though.
When I received my 2nd electrical set, I swapped out to the new parts to make sure everything works as expected. I still have the 2nd set in a box in the garage. I was thinking about selling the set, but I think I would just rather keep it in case I decide to do another Zilla build and/or for backup purposes.
Good luck in your research and quad build.

nope, trying find a good one for a basket case quad rebuild. cant seam to find a good used one anywhere .
Every other component checks out fine as well as all ground's are fresh and tight.

Are they going bad? if so, what leads you to believe this? how many have you been through? have you tested your whole ignition system (source coil, pick up coil, ignition coil, valid grounds and connections, any non-oem tape on the harness?). Any and all info helps in these situations. Ive seen too many people replace CDIs with out it solving their problem. Im not busting balls, just trying to help out.

Honestly, i'd just buy a new one. I know it's expensive, but it will likely last the reminder of your bikes life. My 2c

Hate for my first thread to be this one, but I tried the search and didn't find any real answer's
So here goes,
* Is there an aftermarket LT500R Quad racer C.D.I currently available in todays market place ?
* If there Isnt, then is there a repair place offering a rebuild service ? ( I'm tired of buying bad unit's off my local craigslist )
* Should I continue to buy used old units until I find a good one ?
* Souldnt I get years and years of reliable opperations out of a C.D.I unit ?
The Back story here is, I have a parts 87 zilla I'm bringing back from the Rafters and storage totes, and cant seam to find a good c.d.i box for the life of me .

If someone would happen to have or want to post a link up to any of these questions I would welcome that , for the sake of having it in this thread for all to see in future searches.
Thanks for the space to post this.
