I had mine rebuilt by a local guy here in Michigan.  It ran me $55 for all new seals and a new bladder.

You can send it Works have them do a heart transplant.  I cant remember the exact cost.  I had it done about 6-7 years ago.  And i think the base price was $180?  Just a guess.

I know it can cost more depending on the shape of your shock and maybe an option or 2.

I did it with my 500 rear shock.  Pretty happy with it.

Heart transplant is basically where they put all their internals into your stock shock.

Local dealer says anywhere from 100 to 200 bucks. Not bad, I suppose, but that's just rebuilding it to stock performance. I don't think stock performance is that bad but it would be nice to fix it up. I looked into rebuilding the shock myself and I am pretty good on the mechanical side but I'll still have to buy all the seals, oil, bearings, tools, etc to rebuild it. So, that should be over a 100 bucks. I just looked at Hygear Suspension, I'll keep them in mind. I just noticed Maultech is in Illinois. I wonder if they'll lower the cost to rebuild my rear shock if I throw in a YFZ rear shock. Guess I'll have to ask

Rebuild it yourself. At one time there was a post on rebuilding 500 shocks. 250's should be close to the same.

Hey guys. So yeah, I need to get my rear shock rebuilt. I'd get a new one but I'm fixing to get a place with a big garage, so I'm holding off on spending big bucks on my toys. So far, Racetech gave me a quote of 354 dollars to rebuild my 88 rear shock. That includes the gold valves. 188 dollars just to rebuild it without the gold valves . I asked about lowering the rear shock about an inch and that'll cost me another 175 for labor and 30 for lowering spacers which all adds up to 393 dollars. Holy smokes!!! Now, I'm just probably going to put the bike aside and once I get settled in at my new place, I'll take apart the LT and start all over again, starting with the frame and so on. I wonder if any of y'all have good working rear shocks for cheap or maybe one of ya can rebuild the shock for me? How about swapping out the rear shock from a different bike, which I don't think is a possibility but it doesn't hurt to ask. Thanks
