Guilty as charged of this crime, in my opinion you should know the value of what you are selling or it is your fault that someone else that knows makes money. In that situation described though i highly doubt hes going to make anything near as much as hes expecting. No title kills value.

You have a point there. I guess I'm speaking from a personal experience, like how I paid 5300 for a KTM from a dealer and became the 2nd owner. Then I put a bunch of aftermarket parts on there and kept it for a year. After that, I needed some money for a wedding, so I took it back to the dealer to have them sell it for me, they sold it for a little less than what I paid for, got 1200 out of the whole deal. Couple months later, I see the quad on Craigslist going for 6000 and the seller saying it has low hours and he's the first owner! On top of that, he never transferred the title to his name, I know that for sure because I received a notice in the mail for renewing the tags on it after a whole year of not owning the quad. Yeah, it's not my money and I shouldn't care but I don't like seeing people get cheated out of paying more for something that's not worth that much.

You mean you have never bought something just to sell it for a profit?  Economics 101.

And if he gets the money for it what's it matter to you? It's not your money he's taking.

What is wrong with that? It is called capitalism. Everyone does it.

Oh, there was no title for the 85 either. So, good luck on trying to sell a 30 year old quad for 2500 without a title

Yeah, before I bought my 88 LT, I was looking at a much nicer 85. After trying to get ahold of the seller, I finally got a response from him on the same day I was going to check out the 88. He told me all about it and that he was waiting on some guy to go check it out. So, I told him I'd let him know if I was still interested after checking out the 88. Well, bought the 88 for 1300 because I figured the 87-92 were better bikes. So, I let the other guy know, so he wouldn't have to wonder if I was still interested or not. I'm a courteous guy and do not waste other people's time. Now, he was selling the 85 for 1500 and this was back in early February. It was fully rebuilt and everything. He finally sold it eventually and guess what? Whoever he sold the bike to now has it on Craigslist for 2500!!! Nothing looks like it was changed, just the way it was when I first saw it. That grinds my gears when people do that crap on Craigslist, bunch of chiselers. So, in conclusion, don't pay more than what the seller paid for if you know about it and don't believe everything they say or post on their ad. That's my rant for the day and as always, have a nice day
