A oem stock 250 should be @ 145-155 with a good ring seal. If cyl and head have been worked this will be higher or possibly lower.  All compression test does is check ring seal.

Out of curiosity, what is the ideal compression for a healthy motor?

I think you are becoming paranoid about a massive top end failure happening to your bike. Buy a compression tester. regularly do compression test. when you notice a sizable loss in compression (I think its 15%) time for a topend rebuild. Preventitive maintenance is the key!

Pistons break when the clearance is excessive or something else in the engine tries to occupy the same space as the piston at the same time.

What are the chances of my piston breaking when the top end blows up. It has the stock piston in it
