So my rebuild kit came, and after installation I was surprised that all the play was eliminated. The kicker is tight and has zero slop in it. The old o ring was completly smashed flat, the new kit is snug and feels real nice! Very nice product and definately worth the money. I would recomend it to anyone.

Yeah I think most of the wear is on the piece your talking about, having a spare  would be a good idea. After the bike is back together I will be Investing in a backup

When mine was wore out the rebuild kit didn't help it much, most of the wear on mine was the shaft the kick lever pivots on.
A side note, even if the rebuild kit fixes it, it's well worth the hundred bucks to have a new spare on the self; my dad learned the hard way 2nd day into a week long dunes trip that no one has lt250r kick starters in stock...

Thanks for the reply. I got it out. I let it soak longer with the pb blaster and used the impact again and it came out. The head was stripping on me and made me nervous.

Will the rebuild kit make the kicker less sloppy? I can imagine the ball detent and spring is pretty worn on my old one. I hope it will not be so sloppy after the rebuild is in.. But it may be the other parts that are worn.

Heat and an impact driver should do it if the head isn't stripped real bad....

I ordered the kicker rebuild kit for my lt today. I took the kicker off and was going to get it all ready to rebuild it but I can't for the life of me get the little screw out. Anyone have any tricks to get that sucker out? I think maybe heat is the ticket I dunno. I soaked it in pb blaster and used the impact drill but nothin.. IS it a reverse thread?
