Been a while.  No real updates.

Replaced all the water pump ****, good to go.  No more leaks, everythings been fixed. Just need to go ride now.

took my other 250 out for some woods riding.  usually just use the lt for sand.

Is the swinger repaired or reinforced at the carrier?

Ohhh yeah man, lol.  This isn't my first rodeo.  I have some pics of my previous projects I may post sometime.  A little elbow grease makes a night and day difference.  Not to worried about the 250x at this point, I want the LT tippy top for this year.  So many other honda parts swap right on the 250x.  Parts can be had plentiful and cheap!  It bogs a little more than I like.  All my other honda 4 strokes started fine with no issues. This one, will start and you just gotta keep your thumb barely touching the thumb throttle and its fine.  I could adjust the idle by a quarter turn and not have to do it anymore.  Gonna fix the bog issue, bleed the brakes, and start sourcing out a few small parts for it just to make sure it's reliable for the trails.  Oil looked good and super clean.

I'd stitch that crack in the plastics, then possibly it with bleach or simple green, wet sand them for scratches, then buff, and finally hit with a protective like a wax. As far as cold blooded that's pretty much a Honda 4 stroke trait it seems like other then the 450's.

Yeah they had to slice out that for the expansion chamber.

I tried calling him, and emailing. No response.  I did get a random phone call yesterday or the day before, I will look and see if it was him.

Swooped on another bike today.  1987 Honda 250x.  These bikes are pretty damn fast for what they are.  It straight eats my warrior 350 like nothing.  I wasn't able to get my warrior anywhere at sand lake, just the flats.  pointless.  My buddy has a 250x and I've seen him do just about everything at sand lake.  I am hoping to take my LT for a test ride soon. I need a valve stem in the rear paddle tire first tho.  Guess if anything else I could take the 250X.  It's a little cold blooded.  Probably just needs a little tune, carb clean, or a small step up on the pilot.  Time will tell.  Have a pee test in the morning then have to do a job for a customer (Front rear pads / rotors on a civic).  Maybe after that if the weather is still nice I will wash it at least and give it a once over.

I'll post better pics later. These are just saved from text message the PO sent me.  Needs plastics and some touch ups as they didn't care about over spray :|

It sounds pretty good. Thanks for the pic they'll help out a lot. I am wondering why they cut the front support like that though, maybe clearance for the header pipe? Also kind of interesting that they just welded the engine mounts like that. In the pictures do you have the front, bottom engine mounting bolt removed?

I'm thinking when I get to doing mine I will just run two straight pipes angled from the top bars down to the bottom bar. I'll end up welding "caps" on the pieces that get cut/ground off and while I'm at it I'll gusset the thing.

I think I got a hold of Arlen by emailing him from their web site page here: http://ledperformanceengines.com/contact-us/

Woww!!!

I graduated from RHS in 2000.  I used to live up on Zimmerman, and two places on Doan near the volunteer firestation and larson. I still go there sometimes to hang out, and we hit the back roads down Arpairy to Bunker hill. Shhh!  Not permitted but we don't cause issues, we just go ride and hang out.

I tried sending him emails, contacting thru his facebook, etc. Guess I could pick up a phone hahaha, who'da thunk :|

Anyways, here are some picture I took for you about the front bar.  Def looks like someone who wasn't skilled with a welder got ahold of this and did it, while they line up fine and it bolts together the welds don't look that appealing even under the paint.

Enjoy, PS. If you need/want more pictures I will take any you need.  Just need a specific. I tried getting one of the top, bottom, and where it bends.  Top end is done, she runs, check video.  Sounds ok.  I need to get the valve stem fixed in the rear paddle then take her for a spin at the local spot.  If you guys want my cell let me know, i respond faster via texts as sometimes forget to check the site.

PSS, Don't mind the finger. Not directed at you. It's a salute to my datsun buddies.  I just noticed a pic or two was dark, let me know if you need me to retake those as well.  And last but not least, the bar with the cut in it. That's so it can fit the left bend pipe.  I am thinking about filling it up, then adding a gusset or two.  Time will tell, motor needs done first, then details.

Exactly what Skeans said. Arlen is not too far and is pretty decent to talk to. That sounds like a pretty interesting build, I am interested in how she runs.

Absolutely! we'll all have to met up and ride sometime.   +k2

Call Arlen at Led he use to own Lrd normally under the intake will be a number there or in the intake you can give to him and he should be able to tell you about the build. He's still in the area just out in Gresham. Let me know I'm just east of you in Rainier so I'll ride.

^^^ Good eye

It is indeed an 85 with title, and modded to fit an 87+ motor.  It has the 87 in it now.  Local guy, love it!  Maybe meet up at browns camp or sand lake sometime?  Id be happy to share the pics, i have the top end off right now.  I may need a jug at some point in the near future

I found out some info on the bike.  It's an LRD  build.  not sure if it has been re-sleeved or just punched out, guessing re-sleeved but can't say for sure. It's using a Yamaha piston with a 69.5mm piston.  Largest I know of for these are 69.  Serial number is a wiseco yamaha piston.  I pulled the top to do a head gasket as I saw a leak.  Getting info from the builder is like finding hens teeth.  Not sure if I can go bigger or i should find another jug and have it bored/hone/new piston kit and find an intake/reed cage.  For now I think just going to run with the bore it has, it sounded great and had awesome compression.

One thing that I just noticed but your bike has an 85/86 swing arm on it. but your frame looks to have been modified to fit the 87+ motor that is in it. Could you take a picture or two of the two bars that come from the upper frame to the lower that are beside the combustion chamber as it comes out of you cylinder? I'm going to be doing the same thing and am curious as to how yours was done. BTW I'm just a little south of Salem.

Well it turns out the water pump gaskets were blown out.

I replaced all the water pump gaskets. The bearing was still good.   Fired it up and seen exhaust coming out of the bottom of the jug. Guess the gasket is blown out.  New gaskets from Cometic will be here monday.  Hopefully be the last of the issues and I'll be able to ride it now. I do need to buy a new air filter.  The carb has been cleaned and doesn't leak. I want to buy new fuel line as this one is kinda brittle.  Need to do the bump steer mod as well.

I'm out in Astoria.

So it's an 85 with modded frame to fit the 87 atac motor.  In the ad he said it was rebuilt by LRD and been a good bike since.  When I met him it was after work, he fired it up. Ran great, ran it around the parking lot... paid the man and came home.  He told me all it needed was fresh fluids as its been setting since last season.  It was parked pointing to the ceiling.

So I got it home, let it set over night and came to it after work the next day.  That's when I started seeing it..... The bullshit :|  All three exhaust holes were stripped out.  I was able to clean the threads a little and use some bolts/studs I had laying around to get it in there and tight. It's the wrong exhaust.  The holes in the pipe didn't line up with the head.  I do believe this was him, not the race shop.  I used my rat tail to file out the hole on the pipe and all is well.  Once she is due for a new top end I will properly drill all the holes out to the same size and re-tap them.

Onto the next problem. He said he only ran race gas so he didn't have to clean the carbs as much.  Ok I said...  (That maybe fine, but in my head I believe they should still be cleaned out now and then even after setting).  The carb was actually clean, however the float deals weren't even.  So I turned the gas on got a call, and came back and gas was all over the floor and some in the top end.  I pulled the carb, the plug, the pipe and kicked it over and blew it all out with a compressor. I also pointed the ass end to the ceiling best I could and drained the oil out the crank case best I could, I added some 2 stroke oil down in there so it will be lubed, then re-kicked it a bunch of times.  Pulled the carb apart and cleaned what little needed cleaned, then adjusted the floats...  Held it in my hand and hooked up the gas line, turned the gas on and sat there for five minutes.  Not a drop came out of the overflow, nor the bore itself. Success.  I then tipped the carb to the side and gas came out the overflow.  Held it upright a few minutes, no gas came out.  Sweet!

Threw her back on, she fired right up!!  Luckily he had drained the coolant and kept it inside.  As when I added coolant I saw a leak.  Wasn't coming from the radiator.... Wasn't coming from the water pump cover. It was coming out the clutch cover bolts....   Damn it :|

So I pulled the water pump cover and propeller.  It seems as tho a gasket had dried up and ripped apart. So, I ordered new OEM oil seal for the water pump, water pump seal too, water pump cover gasket, and new clutch cover gasket.  All OEM, might as well do it now and save from doing it alter right?

parts will be here next week.  Other than that, she fires up and sounds MEAN.  Great compression, great revs. Idles nice.  Can't wait to go ride it.

Came with 400 bucks worth of Dirt tires, full set of skat track haulers that are slightly used.  The rims are ITP and the higher end ones, the dirt rears were send in and converted to bead lock.  I basically paid for the rims and tires and got the bike for free haha.

Paid 1300 for the setup, with title!  Another 46 bucks in parts in the mail.  Can't wait for it to get here.  Unfortunately they aren't shipping until thursday so my next weekend ride at Sand lake is out of the question.  What a bummer.

Pics as promised.

My mechanic skills are fine.  I can wrench on anything (I don't know everything).  But I can wrench on anything. Dirt bikes, quads, cars, trucks. And have.  I've been wrenching for a long time and my skill is just fine.

I've never built a basket case tho.. So this is where it comes in.. What have I done.

I can take a datsun engine that's in a 1000 pieces and put it together in a day and it will run for years without an issue.  But... I have not got that far into quads/dirt bikes.  I can do top ends, rebuild carbs, diagnose things... wiring etc its not an issue.

This came with the engine in totes  :o

IDK what I'm doing here... nor how to get the engine back together.  I downloaded the PDF factory service manual. But I don't think that will get me all the way there...  if anyone is in the NW Oregon area... Or NW in the states (Portland to Seattle, maybe even down to Salem..)  And could lend a hand... Please speak up. I could really use a hand on this.

Here's some pictures. I decoded the Vin. It had a G so i believe its 86.  It has the swing arm with the square end and two studs instead of the rotation carrier.

Said it was complete. It looks like most of its there but probably missing one or two little pieces... Again, someone please help me lol.  I have toyed with the idea of buying an 85/6 motor complete and throwing it in or rebuilding that instead but people are asking ridiculous prices for engines right now.  Had this motor been complete. I could have torn it down and rebuilt it. But seeing how I didn't.. IDK where the pieces or how the trans goes together etc..

Couple pics for good measure.
