Damn I've been trying to find the pics of the HBD pipe that thing was cool..
-
That was deffinatly a good trip lots of fun.
-
sweet vid, nice racing Carl, +k2
-
Damn, that thing ripped! haha
-
That was a good trip.
Here it is on youtube.
Carl (iceracer) should remember this one, whoop-en on some banshees.
At 2:20, The zilla on the left, White t-shirt is the HBD. That thing pulled hard for a mirowave and silicone pipe.

guys i might have that vid, joe sent me some vids before and i think it may have been on it.
i will check later
-
Sounds more like a "put to sleeper". lol I wish I had some pics of my brothers Coors Light mid pipe he had on his old 86.
-
LMAO HBD , almost forgot about that one.
Ya the video was out at China Wall, About three runs later I chewed up the last port bridge that was in the intake and spit it out the pipe somewhere on the hill. The motor ran the rest of the trip, but there was no question it was hurt.
HBD, was jewel, had two radiators and more money in silicone to seal up the expansion chamber than a pipe would of cost. IT was a total sleeper for sure.

There is video of the hill billy deluxe. Him and Carl, racing up the dunes. I think it was a video from joe rock

Sorry was supposed to be a quote but im not to computer savvy. I guess thats why I work in a warehouse

FMF had a first generation pipe that was better then this thing they sell now but compared to the lrd and above brand it doesnt even hold water. It was like the p.t. pipe. I raced my brother on his bike and he had a trinity stave IV setup with the trinity pipe and silencer. My stock bike with a pipe and reeds and good jetting at the moses lake sand dunes when we would race would keep with him until we shifted to 4th gear and then he would start pulling me. So either that pipe was ok or the trinity is just junk idk either way the fmf was more of a mid - midhigh pipe and would flatten out when you got probably 7000-8000 if i had to guess I never tacked it. We both would beat banshees that had quite a few mods done to them although this was back in 1995 or 1996 so banshees have came a long way since then. I think the pipe was just called fmf rev pipe or plain gold series back then not fatty but i might be mistaken. I know it doesnt rev like the new pipes out now but back then it did good and is sad that fmf changed a ok design to a crap one that overheats your quad. Maybe Emler had more hands on back then.

West Texas King-----The real question is could the microwave pipe warm up my toaster strudel and hot pockets while doing 60 mph up the face of sand mountain. Now that truly would be a pipe!!!
MMMMM some hot Possum Etouffe while on the fly. One of you guys has got to make me that Hill Billy pipe.
-
Quadman, that was over 5 years ago on the old site...pictures probably don't exist anymore, but it was real.
I think he had it on a hybrid built before the hybrid mods were more or less standardized, so the whole bike looked pretty redneck not just the pipe.
-
two different bikes
-
Is this flex pipe the "hillbilly zilla microwave pipe" you guys were refering to or are they two seperate pipes. I want pictures of this microwave metal pipe.---still think you guys were smoking something.
-
Any word on getting them dyno graph lines more legible??? Still can't see them worth a (pg) :(
-
Wow... There's a dyno sheet for ths pipe?!? :)) ;D
It's....flexible.
-

-
Dam thats bad.Thats worse than the stuff seen around the farm. (Y)
On another note does anyone know how to modify the line colors on the dyno sheets?I can,t follow or differentiate them worth $hit. :(
-
I bet the silencer is and old Cherry Bomb off a Camaro.
-
Thats the greatest ever!! and its obviously been out shredding some mud!
-
Silencer???? Now thats just crazy talk !
-
Wow.... after seeing that I can't wait to see the silencer?!?
-
Wow.
-
Cant post em, make too many Pipe Builders would cry at the results ...................
-
Nice!!!! are there any dyno sheets of this pipe.
-
OMG I LOVE IT !!!!! QUAD OF THe YEAR AWARD!!!!
Your Awesome WestTex!

FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!
Behold the awesome ;D

FIND THAT PIC PORTA!!!! I will make it QUAD OF THE MONTH!

I wonder what kind of torque curve the FLEXPIPE SPECIAL produces?
I have been looking for that photo of that Flex Pipe exhaust for 3 weeks now.
THAT WAS THE FUNNY DAMN THING EVER I STILL LAUGH TO THIS DAY OVER THAT .
-
Don Elmer FMF
-
I been told by a few folks that Bill at Bills Pipes sold his pipe design to FMF some years back, but no one has confirmed that.
-
Didn't fmf make a different pipe for a while that was a copy of a Paul Turner? Or I may be thinking of a different quad .
-
well ill tell you from experience the FMF was night and day difference from the DG. I honestly think the DG did nothing. My guess, DG is the ultimate turd.
-
We didnt have too many choices back then.
-
The ultimate low performance shoot out.... (pg)
-
FMF is probably still selling a fair amount of pipes for the LT500. There are new ones still listed on ebay. Almost ever used Zilla I check out has a FMF pipe on it.
How about:
FMF vs. Bill's vs. DG?!! Would this be the ultimate turd....I mean trail pipe shoot out? [|]

FMF years -->
what where doing when they designed their pipe???? S~
It is obvious that FMF did not spend much time developing their pipes back then. They did not have to make much of an improvement to have a better pipe than the stock pipe. They did not have or use a dyno for developing their pipes back then. FMF did not get a dyno until around 1995. They just used some pipe design software, built the test pipe, ran it up and down the alley behind the shop as a test, and then put an advertisement in the magazines. If enough guys placed orders then they would make the tooling to start stamping pipes. Once tooling is made for a particular design, most pipe builders are reluctant to make any major design changes because they seldom make enough pipes to ware out the stamping dies. It is fairly easy to add or take away an inch to the length of each section of a stamping die to add a few inches to the over tuned length of the pipe.

I'm also in agreement there... thankfully we have moved way beyond the FMF years and these machines have new life. Thank you Dale.

After Scammy, which I was privy to as Dave, John, Freddy, CR and Bell were taking it apart and I got my Q 1.0 pipe the day before and was calling them not RK for install advice. You know my choice. I think the original Q pipe was a huge jump in QR history. It opened this gateway we have here for making a couple atv legends return. Now we have an army of us that love them, and 3hp on top vs 3hp in the mid doesn't matter. We have choices for good parts, which is something the QR community has never enjoyed. Look at all the new awesome parts LT250/500HQ, QRHQ and SQRHQ have generated....

I would like to see some results too, but I agree eventually we will just be splitting hairs. I know who I would rather deal with as far as customer service goes.
And who would that be?

the supposed V1.1 is the V2. Just put together slightly different.
I really don't have a great desire to test mine. I thought about it. I thought I would do a through test with my Q V1 vs. the V2 but I didn't. I am happy with the "seat of the pants" results. The bike is freaking fast. The dyno Mitch posted shows the results I was looking for. More torque at a earlier RPM............ D?
The v1.1 is not the same as the v2.0.
Read Pipe-sters post. It is a new build. The flange is all new, much larger diameter like the Hall pipe, (not a 250 honda) The pics are out there. Matt says every dimension has changed. The pipe is going to have a different curve than the v1.1.
Some of us really DO have a desire to have factual readable info vs. "seat of the pants" before we make an investment like that. I was shown exactly what I was getting with the HPR19, not a bit of hesitation and no hype from its builder.
Geez man..tell me you at least have a stop watch or something to make sure your getting there quicker..?
I guess if you already spent the money its good that your happy...I haven't spent it yet so I'm asking questions ;D
I just want some clear, documented info that we all can judge for ourselves. I don't want to buy and just hope its all that someone else felt it was......

I hear what you are saying if you can afford a $800 to $1000 pipe, why not spend an extra $100- $200 to get it dyno tuned for best performance and have a graph? Its a PIA for me , time ,extra cash do not always flow together at the same time to spend on toys.
I am sure there other dyno graphs are out there on the New V-2 that will read a heck of alot more H.P. than mine has, maybe some members will step up and post them soon.

Thanks Mitch, that does help alot showing the change possible to the original Q..that torque increase is substantial....but according to RK's claims and what Pipe-ster has confirmed the complete new design of the 2.0 is much different yet, soooo.. we're all pretty savvy big boys here!, I think we deserve to see the hard data ....?
These high performance pipes are bound to start performing more like each other, for example this Q2.0 going more to the mid range like the HPR19...and now there is talk in the Hall shop of more pipe R&D as well. It's gonna be down to splitting hairs very soon... All the more reason we need the hard data to decide which pipe best fits our style...especially when they are commanding such a big price!

This might need to be moved into Dyno section
OK I have a dyno done with Q pipe and the Modified Q pipe, I have been told my pipe version was 1.1 not a 2.0 .
Engine - 87 LT500 87mm bore - V-2 Reeds- 39 PWK - Mild Play Dune Porting - 57cc Dome
Q Modified Version 1.1 in RED
Q Pipe Version 1 in BLUE

In my ongoing quest for quality and performance, I have a question....I see a few more guys buying the Q2.0.. great bling factor which is huge for most people, and durability issues have been addressed. OK. I have also read the claimed change in performance characteristics giving more low and midrange grunt. Sounds good..thats what everyone likes, but I've looked around to find a dyno comparision of the original Q to the 2.0 back to back on the same motor and can't find anything. Are you guys buying based on what your being "told" or is there some hard data to back it up? Popping a wheelie in third gear doesn't really show me how a motor runs under load with different pipes. I WANT TO SEE DYNO INFO! Who knows I might have to buy one myself to keep up this season.
