I think replacing the impeller is the way to go? Mine has coolant pouring out,a lot. Motor was just rebuilt by a shop.

Motor geek, what's the solution? Adhesive?
Using adhesives is a band-aid and a shot gun approach. Study the pump. The solution is understanding what parts do the sealing and how they seal.
The solution is in my above post.

I believe you would have to machine the shaft down equal to the impeller on a lathe

Eel diablo has issue with the shaft having wear. His still leaked even after he replace the seals twice. Maybe he can chime in on the details the work was done by Jerry so maybe he can also comment and have a more detailed explanation.
The LT250 and LT500 water pump seals are constantly being replaced but the mechanical seal is seldom the reason for coolant leaking out of the weep hole.
There is a design problem where the aluminum impeller sits on the water pump shaft. The shaft has a very small contact patch where the impeller sits and imbeds itself into the soft aluminum impeller. When the shaft imbeds itself, the torque on the impeller bolt lessens, allowing the the special rubber faced sealing washer to loose contact with the sealing surface on the impeller. When the rubber sealing washer looses contact with the impeller or the rubber lip where the bolt goes through the impeller bolt is not sealing, coolant will leak from the weep hole.
If the water pump shaft protrudes above the water pump impeller the rubber faced washer will not seal against the impeller causing the weep hole to leak.

Mine was leaking last year after I replaced the coolant. Then I added in some bars leak (As the manual states they do from the factory). Then it seemed to go away. 2-3 trips and no leaking.
Now I took it out today for a ride around the yard after it has sat for 2 months and I noticed a bit coming out of the weep hole again. Not enough to even drip onto the garage floor but it was leaking.
I'll just keep an eye on the overflow bottle and see how it goes.

I was told to put a lil adhesive around seal where it meets shaft. Idk but I'm gonna do it. Seems like a common problem though. Like to hear an experts opinion as well.

I also just pressure tested the coolant system and it holds 20lbs. Any ideas. Only asking cause I just bought this thing well a couple months ago and I was told water was dripping out the weep hole in clutch cover, but I haven't dragged it into the shop until today and I haven't even started the bike up yet.

Hey guys, I have a feeling I am going to have to replace the seal, but is there an easy fix to stop the leak without having to change the seal behind the water pump?
