I have a boot that will work. fits the 87 big reed motor and is straight. also have a custom aluminum airbox. let me know if you are interested. here is a pic of the airbox and the boot. airbox comes with uni filter

You could have the air horn machined down to fit the air boot better

That would be great. I got it on, it is really tight. I'm thinking of having the 34mm carb  bored to 36.5. That way I could use all stock stuff and it wouldn't be so tight. I'm thinking the stock boot is pretty restrictive on the air for the 38 pj.
I ended up breaking the choke off the pj trying to get all the boots tight. Very irritated about that screw- up! The bike did end up firing, but needs some attention. I'm thinking it's jetting, but this carb came off a trx250r that is similarly built so I figured it should be close. Now I'm not so sure.

Like others said the stock boot will work.A bit of a pita to cram in.Should  also be able to use a RM 465 intake boot as well.Same bolt pattern just doesn, t have the "ears on the reed side.I can get a part number for ya if you need it as I have one around somewhere.

My stock 250 boot is on a 39 pwk.  When can't get it on, I hit it with a hair drier to get the rubber hot and flexable

I'll give it a whirl. I was pretty bummed when the adapter wasn't going to be available. I want to retain the airbox if possible.  I was hoping to use the zilla boot just because of better air flow.

So I'm trying to run a 38mm carb on my motor. I have the correct zilla intake and boot for doing so. I need to come up with a way to adapt this to my airbox or eliminate the airbox completely. I had the adapter ordered, but that kind of went sideways, so on to plan B. Not sure what plan B is yet. Ideas anyone? This is the last big hurdle to getting this bike out on the sand. My motor has a bit of orting and head work, so I would like to capitalize on it with more fuel. I know others are running a 38 mm carb on their 250's, so how are you fitting them up?? My bike is a 91. Thanks
