Dual piston caliper and modern rear shock setup.. Ya buddy it'll be real nice.
-
I wonder how thats going to change the feel of the bike. I'm sure it will be a big improvement in anyway.
-
When I get a metal tech swinger it'll be equipped with full 06-08 rear end including shock and linkage. Should turn out quite nice.
-
I believe your right because it is a round carrier. but not the type that were used to seeing on an LT, It would be sweet to get the whole rear end fabbed up to work on an LT though. I dont think I have ever seen a YFZ with a broken swingarm, or any other issues like that.
It might be worth while hoping on a YFZ forum and see if there are any "normal" issues like that with certain years to avoid. I've always thought that the stock YFZ suspension set up was one of the better ones to get off the show room floor, until the LTR came out at least.
-
Is it 06-08? Those things had an awesome rear setup with the dual piston caliper, round carrier, nice shock setup.
-
Oh, I see it now. :D that makes sense. I saw a rear YFZ shock and it had a shackle on the lower end of the shock I would have to make something up like that, the main mounting bolt holes look to be the same but its hard to tell. I would also need to look into the carrier bearing as well because that looks very different.
Overall though if do able, it would be a very sturdy set up.

I dont think the chain slider is on the opposite side.. Maybe swingarm was upside down in the pic. I dont think there are even any right side output quads.
-
Thanks. For $20 I might have to give it a try, I've always thought that the YFZ and banshee Swing arms were pretty similar but it looks like the chain slider is on the opposite side. not a big issue though.
-
Not a dumb question.
There are a couple members that have swapped out the oem swing arm for another. El diablo & Alkyzilla have done it. I'm sure there are ways of making the Yfz swing arm work. It just needs someone to take on the task.
-
So, I know El diablo swapped on a banshee swing arm with quite a bit of work. I was wondering if anyone has tried a YFZ450 swinger on these bikes? I can get one for $20 on the local CL heres the link.
