for half the price and has the same performance as a q pipe. and erbe has a few for sale to dcs.
-
Jerry Hall sells his HPR#19 his name on here is motorgeek his email is themotorgeek@gmail.com. The Q pipes are produced by shearer custom pipes but sold through Q as a middle man. Drqperformance@yahoo.com I believe is his email, buyer beware he doesn't exactly have a steller business practice reputation.
-
Were can you even buy an hpr or a dr.q anymore???
-
Bring extra packing material just in case
-
I know it is hit and miss for noise testing. But I would like to be as close as possible.
-
Don't worry about their sound checks at silver lk. I've been going there forever and I have been turned away for noise and asked what I can do and the guy said repack my silencer. I went back to truck and returned 15 min later and they let me through I told them I re packed it best I could. They are more strict about spark arresters there

Where we ride - Little Sahara, Ok - the dunes basically run the little town they're by. It's kinda what makes the little sand box so great. They even have trails to town so you can ride to the square and have a bite to eat and a drink from the bar. So, it's in their best interest to not run people off, although, recently the rangers have been dicks. But overall, it's really a great and laid back community. The revenue that Little Sahara brings in runs all the state parks within the state.

I dont know about in Missagain but I know here the Gov. ran camp grounds are a bit more strict where as the USFS camp ground is not as strict and is usually free to park. When they checked us we didnt get issued tickets or told we couldnt ride or anything. I dont think we even had our spark arrestors in, My 450 with my TRC Yoshi put up 105db the LTZ with its fmf fac. 4 was 101 and a buddies junkie raptor was 103. very well over the legal limit. There is a residential area and camgrounds around Sand Lake here in Oregon, but for that they have the "sound break up area" (covered in trees) around the riding area that is off limits to ride. which seems to help I guess.
-
Here's your answer Q2W... Missagain SUCKS!!!
-
We ride at a state park and they don't sound check. Just wondering if there was a good reason. Guess not.
-
Silver Lake isn't near a residential area. They have a sound check because it's government run. That should tell you everything.
-
I'm curious, is Silver Lake near a residential area? Just wondering why they have a sound check.
-
They're on flea bay for $100 a pop new.
-
I also thought those clamp on spark arresters were not available anymore but I may be wrong
-
I never thought about the cascade silencer I will have to ask Jerry what he thinks about that
-
You could a cascade silencer and change the core in it to match your core in your silencer for size.
-
I highly doubt it will pass. It's random but they will test you if they hear it and its loud. I go to Silver Lake 2-3 times a year.
-
I heard they haven't been checking sound, but it was more than 94 when I went, it was like max of 98.
As for the pipe passing, I am going to say it wont pass.
And it is random sound checks, but if you come to the gate and it is super loud, they usually check you.
When I talked to the locals with drag banshees, they put them in the back of a truck and the quads don't have flags on them, just sparkies.
-
From what I have heard lately they are not sound testing at the gates they are just looking for spark arrestors but they do patrol on the dunes and if you do get sound tested and it is too loud they get you with a big fine and impound your vehicle
-
I've never been to Silver Lake but have always wanted to go. I did ask a few people who have been and they said all vehicles entering were being tested not just the ones driving in. Not sure if that was just a one time deal or what. Just what I was told.
-
funny that you bring up Oregon, I have had my four strokes courtesy checked by the USFS they want us to be at 96db max, which none of mine passed. They also told me that they dont really check two strokes here much anymore just because their tester doesn't pick up the sound from two strokes very much for some reason, and even most banshees pass easily.
-
The problem is we do not have a pick up to haul it into the dunes on we usually park in the parking lot
-
Take it into silver lake in the back of a truck. That's probably what motoman and I will have to do in may when we go to silver lake. He has a Q hand coned hybrid pipe and I have a Q v1. Any of the big boy pipes I believe will be well over 94db although the HPR does have the turn down silencer tip which helps some.

Getting ready to purchase a HPR #19 for my motor built by Jerry. I ride in a noise sensitive area and can't have it too loud. Silver lake sand dunes in Michigan. They want us to be 94db and run a spark arrestor. Figure a spark arrestor screen in front of the muffler will do the job there but have any of you that run this pipe been decibel checked? I know Oregon is pretty picky too on noise. I can be a little over but it has to be close. Thanks and looking forward to getting this beast fired up!!
