Ya thats true. I just want to make sure I'm in the right general range so I dont get a bunch I dont need lol.
-
I have from 22.5-35 pilot jets and from 440-600 main jets but in running a Q pipe, 41.5 mm bored carb, 9" k&n filter and v2 reeds. Jets are cheap enough better to buy more then what you might need then to need one and not have it.
-
Ya Im right around 1,200 after just looking at an elevaiton map. You think just the next two size pilot jets above stock would be all I could ever potentially need? Like if I ordered a 25 and a 27.5?
-
i would say more around 380 jet, but i am no expert...
@0-1200 elevation this is where i'd start.

-
Lid on! I ride in too much mud and water lol.
-
air box lid on or off.
-
Thats what I was also thinking in general. I just dont wanna buy 5 jets that are way out of my range and have a waste lol. My spring break from school is in 2 weeks and I wanna try and get her jetted good for the spring when I have a little extra free time on my hands lol.
-
I'd guess between 375 and 420 on mains and 22.5-27.5 on pilots. I'm no jetting wiz though so wait for someone else to chime in.
-
So I gonna start jetting soon since the weather finally seems to be starting to break. I wanna order some jets to have to switch out and so I dont have to run to the dealer every time I want to change one out. So my question is, can someone give me a ballpark of a few main jet sizes to order and a few pilot jet sizes based on my setup? I am pretty much all stock except for the 88mm piston, paul turner head pipe, UNI filter and V3 reeds. The carb is the stock bore and I will be running a closed airbox. Thanks!!
-
Thanks man! Just waiting for the weather to break so I can get it jetted right, and then its time to rip!! (Y)
-
nice bike. good luck with your build,
-
Thanks Derrick. (Y)
Glad that didn't sit not being of use.
Tear it up!
-
Clip came in the mail today! Thanks Dez I really appreciate it.

Ya man its good to be part of a community that is willing to help like that. I'll definitely pay it forward for someone else whenever I get the chance!!
-

-
I'll get it in the mail asap
(Y)
-
Thanks Dez I sent you a message!!
-
Send me me a self addressed stamped envelope and you can have that clip

Hey ya'll not to be a bother but does anyone know the size I should order in this? What is the stock size or since I already have the stock and it works fine as I just need the clip, should I go bigger or smaller?? Thanks!! (Y)
-
You can get them from Nichie cycle parts pretty cheap
Thanks a lot man!! That was a little cheaper. So just to double check, this is the part I want:
http://www.nichecycle.com/ncs/index.php/786-46001-786-46001-metal-tip-needle-seat-by-mikuni.html
For the Mikuni TM38 Flatslide. And if thats right, what size should I get??

Darn its $25 for that little clip lol...... what a bummer!!
-
My glasses were awol so I misread things, that clip isn't one I have found extras of. You are probably right about having to buy the whole assembly. One fell outa the box of carb parts I had. Pm if you can use it

http://www.sudco.com/Diagrams323728/exptm.gif
So first I'm pretty sure that's the correct diagram on sudco. I still looks like I can't buy the individual little part. I can understand why they wouldn't want to sell just that little clip. I would love to get a few of them to keep around too. Is there someone on the site I'm overlooking where I can buy just the clip? Where did you get all your extra? Thanks again for the help little things like this suck lol.
-
What you did everyone has done on the learning curve. Those little clips seem to fly at the worst time.
Sudco.com sells mikuni & keihin carb parts/jets. In my jetting box I keep extra clips for those oh chit moments
-
Ok so switching the subject a little bit, I bought an 88 Mikuni Carb off ebay. It looked beautiful in the exterior but upon tearing it down it looked like it had sat with watery gas in the bowl for some time. Nothing that hasn't really cleaned off with carb cleaner, but still disappointing. The pilot jet is eligible and I don't know what size it is at all. So I was tearing it down and that little snap ring thing that holds the needle valve down went flying, and upon looking for it I stepped on it and it snapped in two :-X So question is it even possible to get just that little thing? Sites I looked up like this one http://www.ronniesmailorder.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=79034&category=ATVs&make=SUZUKI&year=1987&fveh=1826 lump it together with the whole assembly #8. Or has anyone else done this and used something equivalent they picked up at hardware store or something?? Definitely a stupid moment lol!!
-
Good deal!
-
No I'm pretty sure when you get the license or whatever you sign a paper saying its recommended and you acknowledge that.
-
Most places that require registration require insurance on the vehicle, I dont think thats the case with either perry or wayne right?
-
Im pretty sure its an actual license plate now and not a sticker anymore. I managed to get my LT titled, and I have a plate for it. I think perry is free, as long as your registration checks out.
-
Ya :(. I'm not gonna drive all that way to find out there checking info that day though. Gonna file for lost title on one of the frames.
-
Yes per say but you also need same stuff for Wayne national and they didmt ask for either or even look at my bike last time I went.
-
Wellsville isn't a state park like Perry is it?
Hell no. Don't you need title and sticker for perry ? I need to find out as the group goes there a fair amount.
-

-
same group of guys if the preacher is there, lol
-
lmk when you guys plan a ride, i know a few vets of the area also. oh and they love to climb
up hills..
Haha ya that's how the guys I know are. I haven't met them all yet but my buddy Keith knows Preacher real well and his group. Idk if you know them or not but my friend Keith hasnt rode with them as much as he's older and all beat up now and goes less often. I cant wait to watch all those guys rip up the hills lol. I feel like I already know everybody with the amount of videos I have watched of them haha.
-
Yes they do lol.

good job on the build,
and your not to far from me, have you ever rode out wellsville,oh
we will have to get a ride one day this summer out there,
I have not yet made it out to Wellsville but have probably watched enough youtube videos of it to last me a lifetime lol. I plan on going once the weather breaks with an older buddy of mine and his group. He's a veteran and knows his way around so I wanna hit it up with them so I kinda get a feel for it lol. Im pretty pumped. I would love to get together and go sometime as well!!!
-
My p valve seal is already doubled, I had that one addressed already lol. It really may just be coming from somewhere minute in my tester. I built it myself. My motor was a leaky mess when I got it so I have literally addressed every possible leak site, even to the point of splitting the case and checking for cracks (as it looked like something grenaded in there in a past life). Both crank seals are brand new, p valve doubled, and more hours in leak down testing than I have spent riding it lol :-[
-
Pinch the case vent tube and try the test again. That's where my cyl was losing pressure, the power valve seal needed to be doubled up
-
Good job on the bike. You're most likely losing some air around the PV. It's a simple fix but you should be ok. 1.5psi over night is not bad.
-
Hey man welcome to the madness!
I'm pretty sure your engine isn't supposed to lose any pressure from a leak down test, so you may wanna try and find where you lost that 1.5 pound from
Your quad looks sweet man!

When I talked to the people at CBR they said the were like sister companies or something with PWR so it's literally like the same radiator.

Here's the exact seller I got mine from. Up about $20 from when I got mine. My stock rad was all bent up and I was having major cooling issues.
-
Sweet! Pwr made one but they are hard to find as well
-
That is one hard to find radiator!

CBR still makes them. I got one through a middle man on eBay for $383 with free shipping. I absolutely love it.

Hey guys I'm a new member here. I literally brought this thing back from the dead. It was in pieces laying around 3 different garages. I switched from a 400ex to this LT500 and had no mechanical knowledge whatsoever about the internals. I have been riding since I was 9, but admittedly was a novice when it comes to the mechanical side. After a lot of help from other forums I know my way around this quad pretty damn good lol. I live in Ohio and do all trail riding / hill climbing so the goal for my build wasn't to be a 70+ HP duner but a tourquey monster of a trail machine. My set up is pretty basic and I want to have a very crisp, hard running quad that is very reliable.
As far as specs go I'm running the following:
1. 88mm piston
2. V3 reeds
3. Paul Turner pipe
4. Stock Mikuni carb
5. UNI foam filter with airbox closed and sealed (a lot of mud and water around here)
6. Billet thrust washers
7. Stock porting
8. Stock head
9. CBR Racing radiator (my favorite mod, I posted a pic)
Nothing crazy, but my motor holds air awesome. It only lost 1.5 lbs overnight going from PSI to 4.5 PSI via leakdown test. I literally just finished the motor it was bored and put back together. I haven't had a chance to properly jet it other than just running everything fat for the heat cycles. I live in a residential area and its really cold here right now and wanna wait until it warms up a bit so my jetting is a little more consistent. I'm definitely going to need some help with that endeavor once its time. I posted some pics and a link to a video of the first start up. Nice to meet ya'll and look forward to your help on any future issues lol!!!
