It looks like you did good !! Have who ever you want to do your work and if is good all will grin but if its not good all will say I told you so !! BUT life is good !!
-
Hey Motoman jump off a cliff face first! But before you do send him my cylinder and head and tell him it's yours! Lol
-
Motoman you are very fortunate to know someone where you can get quality work performed.
The mhr drama that still has to be played out comes to mind. I'm not bashing ken oconnor at all, I'm sure he does work that satisfies his customers. It's just that his name isn't one usually heard around the sqrhq water cooler here....
You scored well with your purchase, we here would like to see you have a successful and drama-less build.
Best of luck, and post lots of pics ... Everybody digs that (Y)

I remember when I was selecting a builder. I wish I had listened to any one of the recommendations I got on here when selecting a builder. Best advice I can give is using someone who is reputable for quadzilla engines and someone who will take the time to talk to you about the engine and desired work before you commit and send your stuff to then. If someone isn't willing to communicate to earn your business you can be damned sure the communication won't get better once you've sent your stuff and committed to a price. Skilled labor isn't cheap and cheap labor isn't skilled, you get what you pay for. It's cheaper to pay more to have something done right the first time then it is to pay to have it done twice.
That's not always true. I didn't pay for my engine work lol. My friend is awesome.

Hard to help ones that don't want help. This Ken guy is so popular, no one but blaster have gotten work done by him. Only place you see his name is on blasterforum.
That's because the kids with Blasters don't know any better.

Ask ken about squish, billet thrust washers and ear reinforcement if he says its not necessary turn around and go home with your motor and find someone who knows more about the zilla's
Warmeck, these guys are just looking out for your well being. That is a very nice quad for $400. In the end, it's your time, your $$ and your engine to do as you see fit. Just make sure your builder fixes the known problem areas.
-
Make sure he addresses those areas cause they are problematic. I broke stock thrust washer once and it's not pretty.
-
thanks for your opinions! but im going to stick with ken +k2 stay tuned for rebuild!

Are they as happy as that guy with the banshee you posted? He was so happy that he thought his trail ported banshee with FMF is super fast. These are Ken typical customers, clueless riders that are use to stock quads and think anything is better. Wait till you have a real builder work on your quad.
-
That's probably because they didn't know any better. Ken doesn't dyno test, unless you count the "butt dyno." He should change his name to flashcard racing. Porting from cardboard templates is a joke. which is why he always messes with kid's Blasters.
-
well i trust ken and his abilities he has worked on zillas before and the owners were very happy with the outcome....so im not worried about it!
-
Awesome deal - !!
-
X3 for Carl great to work with. Cant go wrong with Jerry either. Jerry great to work with.
-
x2 for Carl (iceracer) he have done my 500 and my lt250r. great guy and will answer any question you have
-
I agree... Ken may not know zilla motor builds all that well... I feel very confident in him building my 250r motor though.... If you are near ken, then you're not too far from Carl (iceracer)..... One of the better Zuki builders and he's only in ny.....
-
He was upset you was asking actually questions and not questions about will i notice a power difference.
It takes a real builder to make a zilla fast and reliable.
-
Ken o conner may build some nice blasters and 250rs, but he dont know
Chit about zillas. I called him about a motor he built in a 500 i was looking at buying
a few years ago. He had an attitude about questions regarding
O rings and squish for the head, flywheel welding, reinforcing cylinder ears,
and he said he didnt use billet thrust washers.
That 5 min conversation told me i would not be buying that particular quad
and that Ken isnt very knowledgable about zillas. Ask some hard questions
before you let someone cut up your motor.
-
X2 with Jerry, He has my 250 motor right now, and so far Im very impressed with his paitence and customer service.
-
I would recommend asking some important questions before making a final decision on who build your engine. There are a few that are highly recommended here, make some calls and I'm sure you will learn a little bit as a side benefit.
Jerry at HPR helped me out, and was very patient with the many questions I had.

X2 stick with a guy who knows zilla's cause they are their own breed as far as 2 strokes. They have alot of unique quirks to be worked out. Jerry hall is the most knowledgeable guy on these things.
-
Nice find! Where you located? I'm gonna bring ken my honda 250r motor.... He just did a couple guys 250r motors from another forum and they were very very happy with his work.
-
he does 2 stroke and 4 stroke motors hes a hell of a builder in my book and everyone who goes to him is always happy with his work as i am. heres a little taste of what ken does to motors.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTP9BrXuNwM hes a great builder and he has my respect, honest, and caring guy that really does care about the engines he builds and the people with them!
-
Ken O' Conner? He should change the name of his shop to flashcard racing. The guy is a joke, which is why he sticks with kids and their Blasters. I wouldn't send him your cylinder. He always talked about the "butt dyno" because he was never able to do any real testing.
-
Never heard of him doing anything but blasters.
-
i saw him riding and he had just blew it up it was in horrible shape so i had to act on it he said he didn't take it out in yrs lol. Also Ken is a reputable builder. he knows his stuff and every time i deal with him i am always satisfied with what he brings me. the power he produces is like no other and for the $$ cant beat it!
-
Should send it to someone that knows quadzillas, not a random guy.
-
Where did you find it ?
-
thanks guys going to be sending it out when i get more money to ken occoner racing for some mods but for now cleaning it up! and polishing parts
-
That's one hell of a deal!
-
If you do a complete frame up rebuild you have a long fun road ahead of you. But that's is a steal of a deal for that bike!
-
luckybastid!
-
that is an amazing deal. D?
-
Great deal!
Prices for just a Zilla motor alone have gone thru the roof
-
Not bad at all I will buy those tires and rear rims off you right now if you want!
-
well i finally picked her up!! 400 bucks nice barn find huh?
