My buddy used DuPont imron paint on a trx250r motor that laughs at salt & chemicals. Toxic as all hell tho, requires hvlp gun

My plan is to paint the motor satin black.

Cases have been grit blasted to give them texture for the paint to stick.

Bead just polished the surface

Going to apply an acid etch primer first

It's not the greatest durability but the color match is 97%

I used the last can of PJ1 Suzuki True Blue that my local shop had on my motor and it took 3 weeks to dry,, now it's coming off in some spots. Definitely is baking off of the head. I wish I would have just used the Krylon on it.

The Duplicolor, 500 degree engine enamel, Old Ford Blue.  Use a good primer.

I've rattle canned this stuff on and 9 out of 10 people can't tell where the original paint stops and the rattle can starts.

Heard the PJ1 paint is supposed to be good if applied correctly?

Not into shiney finish

What brands of spray paint are people using?

What are your experiences?

I'd prefer to use a 2k option with separate hardner but not sure if anyone does one

There is a 2k brake caliper kit I could use by foliotec, used it before on some car calipers many years ago and it lasted very well.

I've painted my radiators with the VHT engine black out a rattle can and they turned out good.

I left it in front of an infra red lamp all day for it to cure properly and then left them a few more days hung up

The finish is rock hard now

I'm more worried about stone chips too be honest and the durability of the coatings

I done want to be taking the engine out the frame for a long while

I just did mine with the plasticote ceramic stuff. Easy to use looks good, once its cured real good gas don't bother it. But it takes a long time for that I did a water pump cover with a textured black when I did Grks engine . I got it out the other day and rubbed it with premix and nothing. Then tried lacquer thinner the thinner finally bit in and removed it, but the premix never touched it. I think that would be the ultimate for durability hiding and retouches. I'll take a pic of the can and the part later.

I'm just in the process of rebuilding my engine

I've just had the cases blasted and I'm looking to paint them satin flat black once all built up

What do you recommend I use?

Was going to use a good etch primer and some VHT engine paint out a rattle can.

Is VHT any good or is there another brand I should look at?
