You can pull the pipe,clean the inside and use some Hi temp permatex copper where the pipe slides over the flange.Let it dry good and it may help seal that up.As others mentioned nothing to worry about though if you don,t.

The black goo is a good sign that the engine is getting lubrication all of the way through the engine. The only oil the engine gets, is what is put in the gasoline. The oil you pour in the side of the engine only lubricates the transmission.
No smoke or no goo may be a sign of lack of lubrication unless your engine always runs at full throttle and high RPM.
A two stroke engine running 15:1 fuel to oil ratio when running at sustained high RPM and full throttle will make very little smoke and no goo. The inside of the silencer will be dry and almost soot free after a hard dyno session.

OK thanks for all the feedback. Iceracer seems there is only 1 Phillips screw in front of that cover down low so I'll check that out.
I went from a foam filter and a 20 slow & 360 main to a K&N filter and back to the stock 22.5 & 350 main. Same mix ratio all along (32:1)
But after doing this is when this happened.
Its too dam cold here in WI to be doing much now but I will surely check the jetting right away out in Glamis on a new plug to see if I'm on or not.

Very normal, if it blowing out the silencer noticeably then its a problem. The way a 2 stroke works, it dumps fresh un burnt mix out the ex port, then the pipe stuffs it back in before the piston closes off the port. This always leaves a residual coating in the pipe at high oil to gas ratios.
More importantly, there is a Phillips headed screw on the left side case ahead of the stator. Put a tray or rag under rit and remove the screw. It should drip a little oil. If it runs out, you need to look at you jetting for sure. But not necessarilly if the pipe leaks a little at the first two joints.

If your plug readings are good then u should be fine

its just unburnt oil, sounds like you could use more rtv on the flange.
as long as your jetting is right dont worry about it, and ride it harder.

I have about 5 tanks of gas on this 89 since I bought it (Had the top end redone after I bought it). I put on this entire FMF exhaust (used) and the flange I got direct from FMF.
I've been playing with the jetting and now have it back to stock (22.5 slow 350 main).
I road it for about 30 minutes and it won't be started again until the Glamis trip this February.
I just noticed this exhaust leaking goop though and am not sure why its there.
I didn't notice it while riding in Little Sahara OK 8 weeks ago.
Thoughts?
