thanks jerry for the help, i just wanna get it sealed up so i can sell the quad. the next owner can worry about it after that.

I had Shearer fix mine I had him put the lower mounting bracket on it also

The guy will need a good machine and really know what he is doing if he is going to use a mig machine.  Do not let him touch it if he has one of the little 110 volt machines or is using flux cored wire. 

You can tig the crack or weld it with a torch.  It will probably crack again in that area because the bracket design and location of the bracket was not optimized or tested for durability as proven by the high number of repeated failures in this area.

my q pipe finally **** around the mounting bracket and I'm looking for someone to weld it up. I know a guy that can mig weld pretty good, but should I find someone with a tig welder instead? I have the nickel plated early version if that matters.
