Everybody I can think of uses cometic gaskets, & everybody on this site has said good things about them. I believe that's the general consensus amongst the QRHQ builders also. I personally have never toore an engine apart so I can't tell you from personal experience. I'm sure iceracer could chime in and answer your question since he rebuilds them.
I have had good results with all of the Cometic gaskets except the head gaskets. I have not found ANY head gaskets for the LTs other than OEM that are consistently good.
And It looks like OEMS are made by Cometic now or the same material. As much as I dislike screwkng with copper head gaskets of an had to run one that's what it would be. Glad I do orings.

If it was my trx250r I'd say oem or vesrah, but the 500 I kinda am digging the rubber coated aluminum ones.
Had to double up the exhaust valve orings/pulled the cyl, was able to reuse the base gasket... Would never be able to do that with a paper gasket

so what do ya roll with it. #1>

All I use are Cometic AFM series no paper gaskets for me. Paper is for reading writing and Rolling.
-
be sure you are using the AMF series of cometic like grk said.

OEM or Vesrah for me, both are made in Japan. Have had back luck with Cometic gaskets having ill-fitting dimensions compared to the previous mentioned.

cometic amf gaskets... best there is.

There are a ton of different gasket suppliers out there: Wiseco, Vesrah, Cometic, OEM, etc. Are any preferred? Or are there any to stay away from?
