get on it shawn... we all know your stuff is built to last..
-
i made one for my 500 probably 5 years go now. never posted pics of it online. wanted to test it out, but then never made another. i uses a 250r filter which everyone was useing at the time. now everyone needs a huge filter, so i'd have to redesign my next one to use a bigger filter.
-
I'll see what I can come up with
-
A carbon fiber air box would be bad ass, I'd be down for one!!
-
Pm sent Grk.
-
how much we talking about here Buck. lol
remember ohio guys stick together..
-
Also he said to pressurize the CF for my hood he would have to use the equipment at my dads work same thing for the airbox due to the size it's to big for his equipment at home. I don't know anything about constructing rigid strong components out of CF so I have no clue what he's talking about.
-
Once my stator cover is done my dads giving my hood to him then my measurements for the airbox all to be done in CF. I'm skeptical but my dad and several other guys he works with have said if it can be done with CF or aluminum this guy can do it so we'll see in the mean time if you were interested in an aluminum airbox I can have one made for you.

carbon fiber would be Great, guess i need to contact rob

The guy who did all my welding is the head fabricator of the largest hearse and presidential limousine company in America. He actually wants to make them out of carbon fiber he's the same guy who is making my carbon fiber stator cover. This was my design and all of my cuts and measurements, the next one I have made will be a lot better and his welds pass DOT standards everyday for vehicle modifications I'm fairly certain these tig welds will hold up just fine id also offer a warranty if it cracks or breaks anywhere send it back to be fixed free of charge just pay the shipping.
-
yeah thats pretty nice, like to see how it holds up. few members had some brackets made but they started cracking.
but thats what i am looking for, i would almost settle for stainless steel if would be stronger, but i dont want it to be like a cinder block in weight either.
sblt made some kick ass ones back in the day,

Did you not read my build thread? I made mine out of the diamond plate aluminum because it was free. Fits a 4" ID 9" long k&n with room to easily remove the filter. Could run a smaller 6"-7" clamp on and have plenty of space for a battery. I made this out of a bunch of pieces and had them welded together my dads fab guy said next time he will just bend one solid piece and weld the ends on. I'm running this on my trip this weekend and there's a knarly deep river crossing so we'll see how it does has a drain hole and slopes toward the shock and on each side like a gutter. Running a water repellant outerwears not pictured also though about making a Velcro on lid out of water repellant outerwears material as well for added water/mud protection.

i need one bad, it sucks when you have to lock up the brakes so you dont drown the air filter, plus we have a good bit of creek crossings.
thanks

ask el diablo S~
