Does it matter if the motor is cold, or warmed up.

i only do 8 kicks WOT and do it a couple times. my 87 250 on the final bore pushed 170psi before it was ever ran,, then 180/185psi a couple weeks ago (after a year and a half of beating on it)

I did 8 kicks no throttle and 8 kicks WOT. Took the average of the two numbers. My fresh top end with a 87.5 mm bore in my 500 was around 175-180 psi.

What's the procedure for compression testing--# kicks, when to read, etc?  I'm starting with a garden variety NAPA tester (gage, hose, adapter).  Also, what minimum allowable pressure for an 86 250 and a 87 500?
