ok so another problum im having is that one of the cylinder head bolts just keeps tighting but wont tighten the stud almost seems like it comming out any ideas on what to do??? i mean the rest of the nuts are torqued and this nut is tight will it be ok to ride ?
-
My 86 would rattle while idling. Never could figure out where it was coming from.
-
18:1 is plenty rich enough lol. Me I just mix it 32:1 right from the get go after rebuild and run it but same say a little richer after top end replace.
2 strokes have lots of pinging sounds like angry bees. When its idling just get down close to the quad and really listen and go around it to pinpoint a general area then go from there.
-
and does anyone know what the high temp is supposed to be ?
-
ok so i got it all back togather and started it let it idel for 2 minutes let it cool completely and then started it and let it set for 6 minutes next im going to let it set for 10 after that what other break in methods should i use. also i mixed the first tank 18:1 is that rich enough ? only one thing i have a qustion about it has a rattel sound its not real loud or nouthing but did i do something wrong

From what I've learned on here, GrkGuys' advice is very important. I'd hate all your work to get trashed cause the washers and bearings failed. It's a really cheap fix also. Go to the store at the top of the page, and get the thrust washers and rm bearing kit for a great price.
-
make sure piston is facing the right way, and install some billet washers and rm bearing.
-
Leak down test after your done and the 3 8mm bolts on the exhaust only get torque to 8psi.
-
#3 the rings have a marking near the end gap, that goes on facing up.
#6 initial torque 12 lbs. then retorque to 19 lbs final
Yup go fer it
Ask any question u got.... Post a pic to be specific if needed
Good luck (Y)

Go for it man.
If you are unsure about a step, just post some pics and ask. Its extremely rewarding when its all together and fires up for the first time. +k2

is there anything els i have to do besides 1. oil evrything up 2. make sure i have a clean gasket surface 3. make sure the rings are in the right position 4. put the cylinder on and make sure the piston moves corretly and feels good 5. put the head on 6. torque it all down .? is that all ? and what should i run my first tank of gas ratio wise ?

Top end rebuild is quite simple. What are wanting to know or what is your confidence low on?
Ive never tried it with a motor in theyre always out but you should be able to pull head/cylinder with the engine still in the quad.

You are in the right spot. These guys on here can tell you how to do just about anything. 2c
