Spun the motor over with a drill on the recoil mechanism. Got 105 psi dry. 115 psi wet. This sounds decent cosidering these bikes run pretty low compression. Any input? Not trying to yank the cylinder if i dont have too.

Looks like i have a little free time to futz with the 50s today. Soaked some vinager in the tank last weekend. Now to cleaning the carb and repairing the recoil starter.
Anybody got an accurate compression spec on these things? If i can get the recoil starter done tonight ill do a compression check.
-
As far as I know, just that.
-
Any real differences? Or just decals?

Near is an 85, far is an 84 FWIW.

Oh yeah they won't be winning any beauty contests for sure. Its gonna be a lot easier to get the wife on board spending a few hundred dollars on one of these than getting an HPR pipe for the zilla.

Ouch! Those are both rough!! But us Suzuki guys can do anything with anything, and I've seen worse than that lol. Can't wait to see what you pull out your hat with these bittys!!
-
Here they are. Ones got a locked motor but the chassis is in pretty good shape. Tires even hold air! The other was running about a year ago but the recoil starter is broken and they must have hit a tree with it.
Ill start digging into them tomorrow night.
Milehigh can you email me the manual to srdavis48@yahoo.com? Thanks
Oh yeah ones tag is faded as hell. The other is an 84.

Vinegar and Kreme! Sounds yummy right?! LOL Nah, for real though. The vinegar eats the rust and leaves just shiny new metal but won't eat all the way through. You really don't need the Kreme after doing the vinegar treatment but its a good precaution because of today's crappy fuel.

you think you have time, my boy just turned 3 and rides his 50 like a pro,
sad part is you cant get a helmet for there head, he uses a bike helmet.
-
I believe they are both 86s. My sons only 2 1/2 so i got time to tinker with them. Plan to give it to him for his 4 th bday. That manual would be a great start. All i know is these things were supposed to be tough. As far as the lack of suspension, i dont think hell be going over 15mph or so for quite a while. Ill post some pics when i get them home. Once i figure whats good and bad, ill part out whats left if anybody needs 50 parts. I do know that i may need a tank or find a way to clean and recoat the inside of a steel tank, if thats even possible.

Just sold my 2 they are damn near bulletproof better then most Chinese shitt and almost 30yrs old, they can be a bit bouncy at speed for smaller riders, but good Lil machines.
If you need a manual for the older ones I have a factory one somewhere

What do you wish to know?

Get ahold of Jason at Honda east Toledo that's who I get all my parts through. I know nothing about the 50's just put together an lt80 for my nephew.

I scored 2 free lt50s from a buddy. Im gonna pick em up monday after i return from Busco. They look pretty rough, but one of them was running good about a year ago. Between the 2, I hope to have enough good parts to build one for my son. I know nothing about these bikes. Anybody have info on problem areas and a line on parts? Im not going hog wild on making it super nice, just reliable and safe.
