Thanks Dez, i was hoping you would reply to this since i know you recently did the metal tech/ z400 thing.
Im just gathering info and parts at this point. I would like to run z400 spindles, yfz calipers, 4+1 wheels with inner reinforcing ring or rolled inner lip, 450r length shocks, and stay under 49 inches.
I ride east coast trails. So width is a factor. I dont ride really tight stuff, but with the long wheelbase on the zilla, i dont wanna go too wide and loose a lot of manuverability.
I remember you said a while ago that the turning radius and/ or ackerman was improved with the swap?
I would prob go with +1 /+ 0 arms at this point.
The pic says it all. Thanks

I haven't done any measuring yet to confirm anything except the ride height width. 50" outside to outside of the front tires, running 2/3 offset front rims.
I bought +1" +1" metal tech chromoly a arms for 16.5" shocks. Iirc the z400 spindle shaft is shorter, cause I read to run z400 hubs on Zilla spindles the shafts needed to be shortened. Running 1/4 offset rims would narrow the front by 2".

I see that the z400 spindle swap widens the zilla by about 3.5 inches
How exactly is that done? Are the ball joints longer, spindle shaft longer, etc.
I would like to do the swap at some point but dont want to go super wide.
Has anybody ran this setup with 4+1 offset front wheels and if so, any clearance issues? Thanks
