Bump
-
Good deal on the bike and nice work on it so far. Can't wait to see a wheelie picture!
-
You are gunna be very happy with this pipe then
-
As long as its a half way decent pipe ill be happy with it. I mostly trail ride and drag race, I have the gixxer quad for that tho. Just waiting on a pipe bender to finish up the frame on that one.
-
My Fmf pipe wasn, t as strong as my shearer pipe but it was a strong running pipe great trail pipe. Fmf is alot better then a few pipes out their
But it isnt no Shearer pipe
-
Well I guess it will be good enough for a while then. Atleast till I can get the bike back to rideable and start working on engine mods. Then it'll get replaced with a shearer. I am kinda stoked that its not a fmf after everything I've read about them being garbage.
-
Decent pipe, better than fmf I think, It's a low mid pipe, with more top than fmf.
-
Power pros is what I've been hearing. Are they any good? They more suited for low, mid, high range power. Anyone know?
-
Looks like an old Power pros pipe, they also did trinity and ct's pipes. As for the nerfs they look like old steel DG's.
-
Yeah ive considered that too. Money's tight right now tho. So its gonna have to wait a little while unless I find a good deal on some wheels. I'm looking every day for deals.
If you want another set of factory hubs I have a set that I know are good. I took them off one of my 250's when I swapped to z400 hubs. Npt trying to peddle off parts on posts but I know what its like to be on a budget. Make sure the splines on your axle are good and not the problem also. If your intrested in the hubs pm me.

-
Seeing that the bike needs tires and sounds like hubs, you may want to swap over to z400 hubs. You gain more wheel choices and you can run 9inch rear tires. They are usually cheaper than 10 inch rears too.
-
Yeah that's on the agenda too. Soon as I get it close to rideable again. Still needing a complete chassis bearing kit and waiting on my gasket kit and clutch cable to come in at the moment. There's a lot of play in the rear hubs too so that's on my list as well.
-
Sweet deal.Might want to keep your eyes open for a deal on a used front bumper as well. :)
-
Hit the stator cover with the wire wheel.

-
Took the nerfs off. Took the nets off and hit the bars good with the wire wheel. Shot them gloss black after a good wipe down. Put the pipe on for a pic.

Still not sure what kind of nerf bars these are but they are steel and, minus the rust, in pretty good shape. Just had to straighten a few bent tabs.

Got bored lastnight and decided to bring out the wire wheel

And this is what I ended up with

Well I gave it a good wash. There's a buncha surface rust but nothing a wire wheel can't cure. No cracks have showed thereselves yet.
-
Looks like a complete chassis bearing kit, engine gasket kit, and a new clutch cable are in the very near future. Engine gaskets and clutch cable are ordered. Time to save for the bearing kit. Hopefully once I get into the engine it will be better than I expect. Fingers crossed. Oh yeah the rear hubs are scary loose. Looks like this thing led a very rough life. I'm guessing it never saw any maintenance.

I don't have a lot of cash lol. If I did I would need a warehouse to store every project that I think up. Right now I have 2 quad projects, the lt250 and the gixxer quad. Not to mention I'm working on getting a couple back in shape for my parents farm and I have 3 lt80's that Ive gotta keep running lol. So with the QR I'm gonna be saving everything I can from what is there and only spending on what is completely necessary.
-
$150.00 was a sweet deal. Where I'm at people still want a premium price for a turd on these and honda's.....god forbid you want a quadzilla around here. Some elbow grease and a little cash and you'll be riding. Or if your like me a lot of cash cause I don't know how to leave well enough alone.
-
Thanks man. Maybe one day ill be able to put my pipe on a engine like either of those. Its prob gonna get a fresh top end and the basics, v2's if I can find some and maybe a pwk down the road. Right now I'd just like to be able to get it back up and running.
-
I have a Trinity but havent run it on anything other than my Trinty big bore. I ran good, but the whole motor was set up for trail/MX. I actually have it bolted up to my Bartlett big bore now, but haven't had the time to run it yet to see how it performs on a more top end motor. Soon I will have the motivation and some race fuel to give her a run. I'll keep you posted.
-
That's what I've read but I'm not sure. Like I said I'm new to the lt's and 2 stroke quads in general (well other then the fleet of lt80's I have you the youngins). I'm assuming that if it is a power pro or trinity that's its more than likely gonna be halfway decent. Really I'm just trying to figure out what exactly I have here. Its a good looking design from what I can gather. Prob gonna strip it to bare metal and either shoot it with some high temp black or get it ceramic coated if its worth it.
-
isnt the trinity pipe made by power pros?
-
Yeah that's what I was thinkin too. It doesn't have any markings on it or anywhere that a logo plate used to be. The way its made looks a lot like a power pro to me. Are they any good? I made the mistake of asuming it was a fmf just because of the silencer. I'm still new to the lt's. I was just kinda drawn into them by chance and now I'm tryin to learn everything I can about them. This site has been very helpful and I'd like to thank everyone for their info and help along the way.
-
Pipe looks like a Trinity or Power Pros. Or maybe a Dynoport
-
Car wash bound!! [|]
-
I cleaned it up a little the other day when me and the kids pulled her into the shop, but I think I might load it up andgo to the car wash this afternoon if i can get off work at a decent time. One more shot of that pipe and that awesome chain guard
-
Here she is naked next to the gsxr quad project. Took the radiator off to check it over. Its in rough shape too, looks like it took a shot from a tree branch or something, but no leaks under pressure. I guess it'll stay for a little while. Carb looks clean but only has 2 screws holding the bowl on. No gaskets there either, just black silicone everywhere.
-
Great deal
-
$150 isn't bad at all!
-
Nice score for $150.00 bucks. I would have a barn full of quadracers if I found them complete for that.
-
Oh yeah sorry. I picked it up for $150
-
Yeah its a lil bit of everything I believe. Not sure about the chain guard but its steel and expanded metal. Same color blue as the engine. The whole thing is a bit of a hack job. The pipe lines up with the mounts but its pitted pretty bad and the silencer is about a inch too short. I looked a little closer today and I think I can make out a K as the 10th digit. Not 100% on that either but that would make it a 90 model wouldn't it? So far I can make out that its a 88-up engine. Shifts good into 6 gears without power being put to it. 6 petal reed cage is gonna have to do for now but a v2 is in its future after a thorough cleaning and tear down. I'm thinkin candy blue frame with black or white plastics. Possibly even newer yellow. Not sure yet. Can anyone tell who made those nerf bars or what they are supposed to be off of? Also curious about the pipe. Silencer says fmf but it doesn't quite line up like I think it should. More pics to come tomm.
-
so how much, $400
-
Someone Frankenstein'ed the snot out of that poor LR
-
what is up with that chain gaurd cover. looks like it can be saved. lol
-
Yeah these are the pics I took when I first got it to the house. I'm not even gonna share the ones from where I pulled it out of the weeds lol
-
Agreed. It needs some serious work. A full restoration is what I'd like to do. Right now its sitting beside my gsxr quad project but I find myself working on the lt a lil more lately. I can't complain though. I have next to nothing in the lt and could prob sell the pipe and nerf bars for more than I have in the whole quad.
-
That 250 needs some TLC for sure. Post some pic with it cleaned up abit. It's making me real sad. :'(
-
That beast is in desperate need of restoration !!! :'(
-
I cleaned the vin plate up as best I could and tried to read it but the plate itself is scratched up pretty bad. Doesn't look like it was ground down or anything. Its been in a ton of North Carolina mud from what I can tell.
-
I'm thinking that whoever took the engine apart last had never heard of a gasket kit because everything except the head is put together with black silicone. Nice big gob of it in the intake behind the reed cage.
-
check the 10th letter on the vin. Tells you the year.
-
Fmf silencer, pipe is red but I think it might be fmf too. Not sure what kinda nerfs it has but they are decent. Renthal bars too. 6 petal reeds, 5 bolt rear hubs. Reeds are trashed but it had halfway decent compression. Wiring is trashed. Plastics are trashed. I was thinking about a complete tear down and ground up restoration in its near future.
-
Guy said it was a 86-87. I'm finding out as I go that its more likely a 88-89. Vin plate is no help so far. What do yallthink? I got it for dirt cheap.
