Guys,

I need some help to ID if I am leaking gear oil into the crank and burning it. Shirley seems to be smoking quite abit on start-up and then it seems normal after it warms up. Maybe I am being paranoid?  [|]

Its a bluish smoke - the quad runs well, idles well, and starts well.

What are signs of burning gear oil?

Matt

If the oil level keeps going down and there are not any transmission oil leaks, it has to be burning transmission oil.

Case mating surfaces, cracks in the case, leaking power valve bushing seal or crank seals are the only way transmission oil can be burned.

All two strokes smoke heavier when first started than they do after they are warmed up and "blown out"
