It looks like that is the only thing you can do is cut the ears off.
Is this a small reed motor?
-
Has anyone ever posted a pic of the boot mod for the V-2,s?
-
i just put the boot in hot water for a few seconds then sliced them off with a razor blade as flush as i could, then used a dremel on a few spots.
-
They will fit, just need to grind the pieces down.
-
Thanks skunk weasel! Hey you know anything about my banshee shock fitment problem in my other thread?
-
I got mine off this evening, i'll try to get you a pic in the am.
-
Anyone get a chance to take a picture of their intake boot or send me a copy of the instructions from moto tassenari?
-
As I said don't cut the ears all the way off............ I'll get a pic in the morning.
-
Nope! They sent you the wrong ones. You can send them to me for disposal.
-
Ha I figured but when I got it I didn't expect the intake hole to be so much smaller on the v2's than my stock cage.
-
Yup... those are the ears you need to cut off
-
So my new reed cage came today... Is this normal??
-
il see if i can scan it and send to over the net.Il try it after i get off work tomorrow. yea you got a good deal on them, i ve been looking for some for over a year now. I got a good deal on mine brand new in the box for 150$. The guy bought them for 173$ so i saved 23$ on them, Which im very happy with. Just happy to finally find some of them.
-
And yeah I though $75 + $6 for shipping for what appear to be barely used v2's was a deal I couldn't pass on glad I was on eBay when I was and one of you other scavengers didn't see it first! Lol
-
If you want to copy the directions and drop them in the mail I'll pm you my address.
-
Hey i can send you the direction to cut the boot my set of 2s showed up today with the direction. You got a good deal on them., I saved 20$ on a brand new set.Which im very happy with.
-
Yes when I get it torn down in a few days i'll post some here.
-
Hey badmoon can you send me a couple pics of your modded intake boot?
-
Ha me and patience! You can tell you've never met me! Haha
Exactly why OSU doesn't have a world class medical center and medical program -->
-
Ha me and patience! You can tell you've never met me! Haha
-
It's just getting the little rubber ear to conform to the reed cage perfectly, with patience and a dremal you can do it.
-
I think it blends the flow from the boot into the cage....?
-
What do you mean port matched? My cylinder is getting ported now and I've been planning on running v3's so switching to v2's won't mess up my port job will it?
-
I can photocopy my instructions and send them to you... not that hard... I just used an exacto-knife... worked well... then Carl port-matched them when he did my motor....
edit**Just saw Garrett beat me to it!
-
Ok that sounds awesome. Oh I don't have v3's I was planning on buying them in 3 weeks but I figured the price on this v2 cage was to good to pass up. The seller had it listed as an 88 250r v3 cage. Think he didn't know he had v2's.
-
I can send you a copy of the instructions. They are nothing special, just do as I said and you'll be good (Y) Pull your cage and boot off you'll see the ears, i'll be tearing mine down soon and will send you a pic of the modified ears.
-
oh and sell those v3's --> A stock cage smoothed out with carbon tech MT or HT petals is next best thing i've found to v2's, and i've tried a lot of different reed cages over the years. Almost every 2 stroke I own has V2's.
-
Sweet I'm stoked I'm gonna solicit motto tasenari for install instructions. Worth a try.
-
You got the best cage cheap, if you need petals there $40-$50. The boot's easy to do. It can be done with a straight blade but your better off fine trimming with a dremal.
-
Pitrone its a used set doubt it comes with instructions.
-
I don't think his are new tony so they may not have the instructions about the ears or the warning about the tension setting
-
It comes/ w/ the directions w/ it... they have to be cut on all of them.... not hard at all tho... just gotta be careful and do it right!!
-
Damn so its not just a bolt on. I have to modify the intake boot, nobody said anything about modifying no boot man! I reckon I'll cross that bridge when I get to it I'm still smitten about the find hopefully the petals are in good shape and all there. Item description says lightly used good condition but we'll see.
-
Just make sure the petals are good and set at the highest tension setting(adjuster bottomed out to the mounting flange) If you have questions about modifying your intake boot to fit them in just ask. DO NOT CUT THE EARS ALL THE WAY OFF....... They need to be cut and tapered into the V2 cage.
-
Nice so I guess I'm happy with my impulse eBay buy. +k2 +k2
-
if you make a poll about the 2 that will be your answer, it's quadracer math. I invented it +k2
-
Haha so I take that to mean v2's are tons of cheers of beers better than v3's?!

-
Just got that reed cage for $75!
-
Never mind looked at my reed cage again looks like a match for mounting holes.
-
Does that look like the reed mount holes for an 88 500? Looks different than the ones I've seen online.
-
Vforce 2's....that's the good stuff +k2
-
Need help identifying this is this vforce 1's or 2's?
