I already got a Hinson basket and a new hub through Jason on here is like $60. My old friction plates and steels weren't in that bad of shape. So I'm hoping I can just reuse the plates and hub I have and save putting a new hub and clutch plates in for at least a couple months.

Grooves on the basket and hub cause the clutch to feel jerky.  Without holding the clutch handle, it should still hold.  The basket has a greater affect on this than the hub.  You should be able to get away with just filing the hub as much as you can.

I know grooves in the clutch basket cause slippage and premature clutch failure. Do grooves in the clutch hub have the same effect or can I get by with not replacing my clutch hub as well?
