Hey does anyone know if the PEP steering damper can be installed if you have a Dr Q pipe on the 500? I know space can be an issue.
Thanks

Jason will be posting pricing sometime soon, we just got the p/n# but Jason mentioned around $120 for a 7 adjustable rebuild-able unit, he has the final word on pricing.
The part number you need is as follows:
7-Way Non-Rebuildable: BTS-S51-(B,BK,R, or S)
7-Way Rebuildable: BTS-RB51-(B,BK,R, or S)
11-Way Rebuildable Polished Aluminum Finish: BTS-ERB51-(B,BK,R, or S)
11-Way Rebuildable Carbon Finish: BTS-CB51-(B,BK,R, or S)
*B-Blue, BK-Black, R-Red, S-Silver
-
Did they say what the price will be on on.
-
Might also work flipped on the side, I will check it out tomorrow, besides most of us have upgraded to another pipe in the last few years.
-
looks nice. I see the same problem you do if you dont run a Q, Aaen, Hall pipe it might hit.
-
The fitting, only problem looks like you can use them only if the pipe is not in the way ?

I run a streamline 7way on my zilla. Z400 part number worked for me. No issues with radiator and works great for mx.
-
OK picking up the Zilla tomorrow with a Stream Line 7 Adjustable Rebuildable Steering Stabilizer that was made for it, Should have the P/N# for Jason so he can cut us all deals, I will also post pics tomorrow. Now I need 3 more after this DS KFX and the other LT500
-
Ok I dropped of the LT500 today to get fitted at Streamline, so as soon as we have a finished Steering Stabilizer P/N# Jason can get us quoted.
-
In the description at this site, it says the PEP units are rebuildable now.

I'd like to see a steering damper for an LT that attaches to the bottom of the steering stem like one of these:
Or even better, a steering damper like you see on streetbikes that attach to the handlebars for on-the-fly adjustments:

Well, here is the deal, Jayson can get a good deal out of Streamline, Rebuildable with 7 adjustments, now for teh fun part as always, they dont have a P/N# for one ...........yet, they are local here in town, I will be taking a LT500 to them to get one fitted next week and to get a P/N# assigned to one for future sales, as of price, Jayson will post that soon enough. D?
-
Thank you very much
-
They sure as hell help when you're driving over tracks in the dunes.
Definitely recommend one for the dunes.
-
Hey Rogue...can you post some pics of your dampner installed on your zilla?
-
Yep, I too have the PEP stick, but a non-rebuildable. I'm due for another one as mine doesn't do too much as tested last night.
-
Yea Mitch....that is the kind Im looking at...I guess if you mount it similar to the pics above it might work...I would hate to spend the money on one and it not work
-
I have one of them on my LT450R. You could get 5 feebay dampers for the price of one streamline damper...
-
I was looking into these, rebuildable with 7 adjustments

I bought this vw type steering damper with the heim already installed off feebay. There two versions, a long one and a short one. The Zilla uses the short version, the longer one was for trx250r.

The rear mount is an aluminum plate that bolts to the motor mounts with a tab for the damper. The steering shaft required welding a tab on for the heim joint to mount to. I turned the bars full lock left, then tack welded the tab on the steering shaft then checked for proper clearance for the radiator then finished welding. Very simple. My Trx250r has mounts similar in design.
Pep makes a bolt on steering shaft mount but I couldn't locate one.
-
Are these stick style dampners or something else? I was looking into putting a PEP stick style on my zilla but the radiator seems to be in the way from proper mounting and clearance....can someone post some pics of how they have one of these stabilizers mounted? Thanks Jason
-
Sure can man bfuss ...
-
Need to see what Jayson can hook us up with for a SQ-HQ deal? I need 3 of them.
-
Dez can you show me the set up on the cheap setup
-
Handle bars do hurt after an unexpected landing.
-
I run an old school PEP. Money well spent if you like to go fast. Arm pump is nil.
If you've ever taken a digger dropping off unexpectedly over a razor you know how bad handlebars hurt....
-
Ghetto vw & a hiem
-
I run PEPs
-
What kind are u running?
-
I run them, and love them for the dunes! ;D Best money spent!
-
I run a steering dampened unit on everything I ride...except the gf.
Doesn't matter if it's trails or dunes, sometimes you hit those whoops that hammer the bars lock to lock left to right. Messes up your wrists until you can do some beerski 12 oz curls.

Question: I see that the Racing and Desert quads benefit from use of Steering Dampener, is there any benefit for use with one on Dune Quads?
I have moved this topic to the LT500 Chassis Section to help out others, please contact Yuzuha32 for pricing
