finally got to go for alittle ride! shes running great, i was beatin up on a Polaris predator pretty easily ;D thanks Carl (Y)
-
I should prolly peel them trinity stickers off hahaha,
-
here's the pic with the shearer pipe, also the 500 . she tuned in and ready to rip, haven't had much time to ride with work, but I made time to put a whippin on a 450r Honda O0
-
Love that seat cover!... looks like Brians (800screws) old one... I was kicking myself in the azz for not buying that seat... don't see many Graves seat covers for the LT's floating around out there... nice ride!
-
can we get any pics of this shield please?
-
OK, so the heat shield works, it was just the placement of it on some of the pipes.
That clears a lot of confusion up.
-
I have one of the ones with the misplaced heat sheild (half of it is under my tank) But thats not really the problem i'm having. My heat shield really only covers the rear half of the exposed portion of the cone. If I'm ripping through a turn trying my best not to fly off the seat (I do good most of the time ;)), I'm usually forward on the seat and hugging the tank with my inside leg. Which usually puts my snowboard pants (ice racing) right into the pipe just before the heat shield. my .02
-
The heat shield on mine works great, pipe can be red hot and you can touch the heat shield by hand. I dont even feel the heat off the pipe on my leg. Glad i bought it. The pipe does get really hot.
-
A couple of them were installed and rotatated too high, mine works good but could be longer. A carbon fiber shield would be nice. Two little screws and molded. Better. Don't think of would be to hard.
-
I read that the heat shield wasn't very functional...it worked, but didn't do a great job.
Then I read in a different thread that it works great.
So what gives, good or bad?
Worth the money or not?
-
that is a nice pipe
-
yeah shearer has an optional heat shield, u would need to have the nuts welded on pipe to install it im guessing, i think its 50 bucks
-
wait.....what is all this im reading about a heat shield??? am i missing out on something? i got my pipe when q was still big,i hate the fact that the pipe always melts my damn boots and leaves rubber crap on my pipe.
-
Man that's a sweet looking 250....
-
ofcourse u can see the website on theee ol computer monitor lol
-
Pipes here !! Ive have my cylinder back from Carl soon, cant Waite +k2
-
will shearer pipe should be here next week!! but i had the itch ;D I i sent the jug n head to carl for some tlc
-
Nice lookin 250 +k2
-
Heres a pic with the fmf, il post another after the shearer is on +k2
-
Yea the quad is still in the works. But the heat shield works really well. The pipe can be red hot and you can touch the heat shield by hand its barely warm. Its sound bad(pg). It has alot more rev then other pipes. I still working out bug on my quad but im getting to run better.I thinking about get the jug ported soon.Or going to a bigger sleeve with porting and a pro head cut for the right squish. When you get it keep us update and make some videos of your quad.
-
no i skiped out on the shield or chrome, yeah i seen acpl of those vids, seems to rev alot better, sounds sweet too
-
You wont be disappointed. Did you get the heat shield with it. The heat shield work really well. I got a couple video of me riding mine on the thread i started about this pipe. Check them out im about to add some more.Soon!!
-
well i ordered one lastnight, just raw finish, yeah he did mention the power valve works well with the pipe, im gona do the top end before installing, with the RM bearing and hd washers
-
It will run fine on stock ports. I have some trial porting on mine but the ports are stock. But the pipe runs alot better on a head thats modded. But when i talk to Matt he said the power valve is one the reason it works well. But its a great pipe and you can just keep making it better with the more mods you do.
-
no hard feelings jerry, U no u da man lol
-
thanks for the info, my bad on posting in the wrong spot lol, to many budwiesers last night +k2
-
The power valve is a snap if you take the time to make sure it's clean and functional. I would put up the extra effort and get full use of the motor.
-
LMAO I was trying to fix it at the same time +k2
-
No worries, I fix!
-
same thing i was thinking.
-
All you're doing is reducing functionality of the engine.
It won't hurt you much up top (check rogue1970's dyno posts for how much power you can expect to lose), but it'll hit more like a lightbulb with less usable power before you get on the pipe.
Tune the PV and you'll make more power.
BTW, why are you posting about a shearer pipe in HPR's territory?
-
if you plan on being wide open most of the time, then yes, blocking the pv is ok. Doesnt improve power or anything. Most drag LT's have their pv blocked.
-
has anyone tryed just eleminating the power valve with the sfearer pipe??? just seems like a head ache, ik on my 500 with hall pipe i blocked it and it seems great?
-
It will still be a huge improvement with stock ports.
-
has anyone used the shearer pipe on a 250 small reed cylinder with stock porting, i just picked up a 89 250 all stock other thant 39 pwk and v force reeds, it has an fmf as of now, ive heard carl say the shearer is nice, just wonderin on a stock jug??????
