you could also use glass bead medium grit which will get it really smooth than hit it with the sand paper. finer grit.

You won't have problems with corrosion, aircraft have survived 60+ years with polished aluminum skin without issue.
Just have to keep at it every now and then to maintain the shine.
Don't clear coat it, you'll wind up making it look dull regardless of what you put on it.

you must sand the case with grid , 400, 1000 if you want 2000. use polish wheel and rotary tool using brown and white polishing compound.

its aluminum. it will be fine unless you ride where they salt roads.

I'm not worried about keeping it shiny isn't a polished piece bare metal? I'm worried about corrosion and sealing it to prevent corrosion.

A good coat of carnuba wax 1-2 times a month should keep it shiny.

No a regular clear will yellow, Eastwoods sells some stuff thats not supposed to yellow. Or just keep after it with a little elbow grease.

I'm polishing my stator cover and probably my water pump cover and maybe my head. I've never polished aluminum before but I've researched how to do it after I've achieved the shine I want what do I do to seal it, coat it in high temp clear? Thanks guys
