I wear boots since coming off a foot peg on a small off camber jump and leg going under rear paddle resulting in a fractured tibia......... if you learn to crank the motor just past TDC, go back up then kick it over, its no big deal for anyone to start the bike. HPR motor included.
-
Alky just started wearing boots, he used to wear flimsy work boots. His stuff starts pretty easy.
-
Alkyzilla how difficult is you bike to kick over? I have a 88 top end but talking to Jerry about possibly doing the same port job and set up you have on your bike you used for the pipe dyno.
-
If your timing is set in the stock position kick back is not an issue, if you run it advanced look out.
-
Awww come on guys thats half the fun of owning a zilla & a pumped zilla is the limp you have after kicking it over all day after riding!! Great for the calf muscle!! Makes it look like Sly Stallones bicep!!!! Try kicking over a HPR!!!

Interested to see this video also interested in the reliability of this modification would love to be able to knock the 500 over like a banshee or blaster.
-
If I would have tried to start my old 89 with flip flops it would have broken my ankle when it kicked back. I forget what was wrong that made it do that I think it was something with the stator but its been many years now since owning it.
OK SO WHY WOULD YOU KICK A 500 IN FLIP FLOPS AGAIN?

Did you resurface your head? If not you should at least check it. I

I can start mine in flip flops. Not very often but if I'm too lazy to put shoes on.
-
Yeah The 500 is all fun and games until you try to kick it over after you been riding for a few hours and you stall it on a hill.
-
Why?
Have you kicked over a 500?
-
I've seen them in coolheads because their flat on the top, but not on a stock head. Let us know how it works.

Why?

Here are some pics of a comp release I put on my head. Found it was easy to weld if I pre heated the head in a ceramic kiln. Hope to post a video of me starting it with flip flops on!!
