and once you o-ring it, you dont have to buy gaskets for the head every time it comes off saving you  2c  2c  2c

Are you using your top motor mounts? If so it is a good idea to not use them on the 500's. that may help you. I o ringed my heads on my quads and never had a leak up there again

Having the head oringed has 2 purposes, stops leaks if nothing is warped but also doesn't need to be torqued as high so less chance of pulling studs out of cylinder when installing it.

Hmmm I'm having the same problem turns out that my head was warped, I would try to resurface the head and give it one more shot with the head gaskets. But it seems the o-ring is the way to go I'm having my motor done right now so I'll let you know how it goes sometime next week. Good luck!

Hi guys,
Need some advice! Just putting the old girl back together, but have coolant leaking from the head gasket!
Its a 1990 500, with a cool head. Do i need to get the head o-ringed? im using Cometic gaskets and torqueing down to spec but she's leaking!
Any one help???!!!
