ok, gotcha. i've used alot of hotrods in different bikes and haven't got one back from a premature failure. but i have read about the problems. i have one in my zilla and so far so good. but i would use oem aswell if it wasn't for the cost. oem is ussually always better

Well what it was i was going to rebuild my crank a year and half ago.So i bought the hot rod kit. Then i got a whole hot rod crank and rod.So i this kit laying around. The hotrod crank i have now didnt last nowhere as long as my ome crank did.I wanted to put a ome bearing in it.I like the hotrod rod better the way it oils the bearing,.Really isnt that big of a deal.I can just use the hot rod kit or have Jerry rebuild the rod that is on the crank now, which its a ome rod,so either way im going to get a rebuilt crank.Im going to call Jerry at HPR and let him look at them and which ever will work the best i will go with.I hope noone has to go threw this, since i went threw this.My mistake will be someones knowledge either go hotrods or ome or a aftermarket rod that accepts the ome bearing,

hotrods may use a easier to get or cheaper bearing than the oem. and it also may swap between other rods saving them money from stocking different bearings.
you should have just bought all oem if you don't trust the hot rod.

Just look at mine ome crank the rod id is smaller then the id on the hot rods rod.

I just bought a ome crank pin bearing from suzuki lt250r,I have a Hotrods connecting rod kit .I didnt want to use the bearing that came with the hot rod kit.Well i got the oee bearing and it too small for the hotrod kit.Does hotrods make thier rods bigger then the stock rod.Has anyone run into this problem before.I was going to send my crank off tomorrow to get rebuilt.Doesnt look that way now.Or did i get the wrong bearing in the pack from Suzuki, the part number on the box is what it calls for ,09263-24026 87-92 lt250rs.I dont have a stock rod apart to compare to.Seem like it fits on the pin tight but the hot rod bearing is alot taller then the stock bearing.
