Don't really know what to say as an intro for a thread haha, so...here it is
Just sitting in the frame. The motor is an 87 and the mods so far are some port work and a 40mm pwk carb. The frame has laeger +2 a arms, +2 axle and a few other little things. I'm going to set it up mainly for mx.
Haha yeah man I saw those before I got started too. I want to know what radiator he's using because the yfz one looks way too small. I'm off on holiday to America for two months so it's going to be a while before this is finished.
how much fab work did u have to do?
Good luck on exhaust. Thats been my major issue on finishing my LTR based one. If you get on youtube there is a European rider that has one like yours set up for MX with good results. The amount of fab work to make it work in a YFZ is a whole lot less hassle than the LTR set up which is definately a plus! I actually had mine in a YFZ at first then pulled the plug on it after I aquired some more LTR chassis parts. I'm not trying to dampen your spirits or bash your build at all but you're definitely going to need to make some antivibe motor mounts and gusset the YFZ frame up, they are prone to cracking around the welds and subframe racing MX. I MX'd the YFZ's for 3 years and when I finally made the switch to Suzuki I tore the YFZ's down to PC and sell and found 37 cracks combined on the main frames of my 2 race bikes. Best of luck!

Nothing yet but so far what I can see is to mill down the swinger mount of the cases to fit and bore the hole a couple of mm larger, cut and move the bottom mount, make front mounts and do something about the head stay. I won't have a front sprocket for a couple of months so I can't do much yet.

Cool thanks for letting me know. Any chance you could help me out a bit since you've already built one and worked out the faults? Like what radiator to use or where you think those gussets should go? It almost looks like an aaen pipe would make it in there nicely. Don't know if you've seen this but it's what put me off using the ltr frame (and I couldn't afford one)
http://www.ltr450hq.com/forums/suspension-steering-chassis/3172-frame-cracks-swingarm-cracks.html ...but yeah, the yfz frame does look a lot weaker and it could be worse for cracking.
Won't let me get any photos up at the moment but right now I'm trying to work out how to make an intake boot. Looks like its got to take a sharp angle down below the rear shock reservoir and back up again to an air box or I've got to turn the shock around and work out how to fit my pipe...
Looking good! keep us updated!
For future reference, it's much better upload your photos to an image hosting site like imgur or photobucket then link them to the forum. Better quality pictures and it doesn't fill up storage on the website.
Looks sick bro. Ive kicked around a yfzlt for my drag motor because there is a huge aftermarket for yfz stuff and it sells cheap even mx stuff i see a arms and swingers dirt cheap compared to lt stuff. I love ppl who think outside the box and arent afraid to just go for it. Im a skilled machinist by trade if u happen to need anything machined (spacers, etc.) Hit me up ill hook a fellow forum member up. Ive helped alot of forum members out over the years. Keep it up and remember to make a photobucket acct and snap pics of that baby like a social media savy first time mother does to her kid lmao!
rossy, there is a code you can copy that has [img] at the beginning and end. Copy that bit of code and the picture will show within the thread.
GEEZ that is ALOT of work..I've built 3 250/500 hybrids,.. way easier than what you have to deal with. I have a strong YFZ also. I hope it turns out to be a great handling machine for you.
I like that carbon fiber intake!
i have a spare 660 raptor frame if you want to make a yama zuki hybrid
...tempting but I already have my next hybrid project lined up for when this is finished
