VINTAGE SUZUKI MUSEUM THOUGHTS & NEED INPUT
« on: November 28, 2016, 03:32:20 am »
For those who don't know me, my name is Nick.  I've been thinking a lot here lately about opening a museum to showcase SUZUKI's advancements from the 80's through the early 90's.  I'm always open to suggestions, & your thoughts.  What's been bugging me lately is my lack of funds to acquire all of the models and variations of models.
If you would be willing to loan your quad to the museum with everything documented, notorized, or contracted... I'm willing to display it and have it insured for theft or fire.  The only thing holding me back from laying the cornerstone is paying down my mortgage and then I can refinance for the building materials.  Also if someone is willing to partner on this idea, I could section off a piece of land and dedicate it legally to the museum.
Currently I have a

1  1985 LT250R. 95% thoroughly restored
1- 1988 LT250R.  In pieces.
2- 1987 LT230E's.  1 complete w/ ALL optional equipment that year, & another complete donor 87' 230.

What I'm needing/looking for...
I hope to find a 1987 LT500R as stock as possible if that's not possible, I'd want one as factory SHAPE as possible.
Any of the 3 models (ALT 50,ALT 125,LT125)manufactured in 1983.  This is the 1st year Suzook made quads.
A 1987-1992 LT250R as original as possible.
& if you have a different model in this time period that is all original and museum quality, please speak up!
I would also entertain the idea of trading my 2013 TRX450R for an equal value SUZUKI quad.  My TRX450R is completely stock.  Still has factory tires, & even the factory chain!  It has never seen mud and hardly any dirt.  ALL highway cruising miles.  Only 2 oil changes with dealership maintenance records.  Titled in my name.  VERY NICE.

PLEASE mention anything you think of cause i may have overlooked it.  Thanks QR enthusiast's

To be honest, you really are wasting your time. Not sure where you plan on doing this, but it would have to be either by a Major city or by a major riding spot to get any amount of visitors to make money.

If you did what to open a museum of Vintage suzuki quads, you will need one of each year LT250R and LT500R. Need a couple different versions of the LT50, LT80, LT125, LT185, and LT230. Then there is the King Quad that came out in the early 90s.
Should try to have completely OEM quads to ones that are deck out to ones with engine swap. To show the difference.
Could include completely destroyed quads too (could get them cheap).

I wouldn't drive to just see a museum of a couple quads unless I was already in the nieghborhood. Now if it was a major museum size with many quads (more than just suzuki), I would be more out to visit the place.

I am just trying to be honest with you. If you do this, more power too you, but be ready to spend major coinage.

Honestly, I don't really care about making money off it.  I agree with you about needing more than a few quads.  I'm not really into other manufacturers and if I'm putting up the coinage alone...I might as well buy what I want for it.  I live outside of Springfield MO but I'm not exactly close it.  I appreciate your input and agree with what you are saying.  I welcome more peoples perspective!  I'm just a die hard suzook man.  Which is why I may do a trade with my Honda 450 for a zilla.  I never use it anyways.  As far as the building costs are concerned, I could probably build the museum myself.  I have all the tools and experience to tackle the job.  I've been thinking about maybe building a large Morton pole barn, & only use the front half for the museum.  That would cut the costs dramatically.  I just need to do what you suggested, which is have more than one of a make to highlight the changes.  I believe between me scooping up what I can find and what other people lend to the museum, we could get it started, & build on that as time goes by.  I'm centrally located in the US which is a plus.  I never thought about SUZUKI 3-wheelers though.  Did SUZUKI make any 3-wheelers??

That's a clean looking 3-wheeler.  Was it hard to find or did you just stumble upon it?  Just wondering how how hard it is to find quality specimens.

Who would be willing to trade their Zilla for my 2013 Honda TRX 450ER??  It's a CLEAN quad with all highway miles.  I've already had the valves adjusted from the break in period.  Fresh oil and filter.  Can get Honda dealership maintenance records.  I didn't race 🏁 it up and down the highway.  I just hit 5th gear and cruised to the local water hole.
