i really dont see the economy being part of it. suzuki has never had a good automobile anyways. if they were not able to sell the junk cars why keep trying. blaming **** on the economy is getting old.

actually good news for us. ASMC is discontinuing car sales in order to put more money into their power sports lines. perhaps we will see the return of the 450 who knows.

they did put a hold in 2010 i believe on their sportbikes where the did not update them and only sold the previous models until they could take them off the showrooms. they also discontinued the quadracer which is still a very popular atv on the mx circuit. their bread and butter are powersports and if they are taking hits there then something is wrong. their sport bikes are awesome and the very competitive and have the most ama superbike wins for a manufacturer. so the economy has something to do with their lower sales. since banks dont give loans out as easy, bc the banks says the economy is bad, then less people buy toys. and the people that the bank will give a loan to have enough money to just flat buy most items. i was hoping they would come out with a new quadracer but i dont think that will be happening anytime soon.

Heard the same thing.
It's not that they're going under, it's that their cars suck and they know it.
Their plans are to redouble their efforts in the toy market and stop with the silly cars.
Nothing is going to happen to Suzuki, especially not because of the catch-all economy scapegoat...they're just changing tactics.

they did put a hold on sport bikes for a year but it was to move all of the previous years stock that they didn't sell. they then revised the models for this past year. the reason they discontinued the 450 was due to emissions regulations on ATV's as it turns out dirt bikes are considered closed course race vehicles and are not subject to the same restrictions that ATV's and cars are. so they had to pull the LTR off the market. I'm not sure why they didn't redesign and release a new 450 though.

i read the same about the emissions but some of the other 450 sport quads that are on the market havent changed since the ltr was around and are still on the market so not sure why the ltr would have greater emissions problems than the others.

I had 97 Geo Metro, the 4 cyl engine and auto tranny were Suzuki units.  Great little car with 35 or mpg if kept in the 60mph range on the freeway.  I bought it from the original owner with 50K miles, had 180k when I finally sold and was running strong but I performed religious 5k mile oil changes ect. As for the rest of the car, well it was a geo and not the best quality.  But the Suzuki engine/tranny nice units!
