Looking for a good re-sleeving company that charges less than $170...seems high to me but this is the first time I needed to shop around.

Thank, Jason

Tell us what you are getting for 170.00.  You will not be getting the same job or the same number of operations from all shops when you ask them what they charge for resleeving a cylinder

Are they removing the studs and hardware from the cylinder before re-sleeving?

Are they installing a very thin sleeve inside the old iron sleeve or are they completely cutting out the original sleeve and installing a thick walled sleeve?

Do they Just bore the cylinder, heat up the cylinder and drop in the new sleeve or do they bore the cylinder, hone it straight and smooth to promote better transfer, and then heat up the cylinder and drop in the new sleeve...... etc

Are they matching the ports after re-sleeving.

Are they machining the head gasket surface after re-sleeving?

Are they installing the studs in the cylinder before boring and honing after re-sleeving the cylinder.

Are they sand blasting the cylinder after re-sleeving?

There are alot of questions that need to be ask so that you willl know what quality of a job you are getting.

$170.00 for labor sounds real cheap for a high quality job.

this is where you want to take it, Northwest Sleeve Co http://www.nwsleeve.com
unless you decide to take it to one of the recommended builders from the site, they will help you go in the right direction.
i had mine done at nortwestern, they are not cheap. tho

What is being sleeved is a banshee mono block that has a sleeve skirt broken so the entire sleeve needs to be replaced...they are boring out the entire sleeve and putting a new one in...that is what $170 gets you...then for $125 they will match the ports...it sounds like they will do all the decking and first bore to match the other but to be honest I did not ask those questions....but I will...thanks for the help on the details Jerry
