Hey guy's!....
Well this is my 1st post.... I've been watching this site faithfully for 1 year+.... I've learned so much from you's all & from searching thru the archives... However I cannot seem to find anything about my "question/issue"....
My question is related to the water pump impeller clearance to the water pump cover... I took apart the water pump on my spare motor and it seems like the impeller is "grinding/rubbing" into the cover... Is this normal... It also seems like it takes more effort than it should to turn it...... It actually sheared off the the tip of the crank that turns the water pump impeller shaft!!!! Ridiculous! I disasembled it and the bearing seems fine.. WTF?
On my 2nd motor (supposedly built by Tudors in CA. 180PSI) while changing the clutch basket (hinson) I was spinning the impeller by hand & the pump also seems a little stiff to turn, I did NOT take it apart... And when I run the motor and place my hand on the pump cover it feels a little "rough" vibration wise....
The motor seems to be cooling itself... It runs between 150 - 170 deg on the trail, and up to 190 - 200 playing in the pit...I use an electric inline temp guage... ARE THESE NORMAL TEMPS?
Jetting is spot on, idles nice, no backfire, or pinging & "cardboard" brown plugs... running 103 octane w/ amsoil dominator @ 32:1
Here's a pic from last year...
