Just bought an '87 Zilla. I would like to check the jetting, for starters, with something other than my butt. Can anyone give me a recommendation on main, pilot, needle position, and airscrew setting for what you see below? This is all new to me. Looking for simply reliability--nothing too finicky. Thanks.
1300 ft elevation (bought it at 0 ft)
32:1 (unless someone recommends otherwise) with pump gas
Stock carb
Stock cylinder bore and nothing worked
Stock airbox with foam filter
Bills Pipes pipe
Anything more you'd like to know?

just noticed you listed pump gas as your fuel. NOT good. these engines are very prone to detonation (pinging)
is it the factory carb? 87 carbs are hard to get tweaked into shape?
Yeah, the guy I bought it from said it was really finicky particularly with respect to elevation (he was at 0 and I'm at 1,300ish ft). It is the stock carb. To tell you the truth, once I got it running, I've been riding it like crazy without at issues. Not a knock, ping, anything. So at least for now, while the riding is still good here in the east, I'll keep riding. I'll keep the race gas in mind.

Remember its better to rebuild the top end before it blows up. The OEM thrust washers and cast pistons can cause alot of damage.

@Rider414, yeah I'm going to do that--the top end. If there is one thing (and there's been more than one thing) I've learned from this forum, it's to redo the top end with the RM pin bearing and billeted thrust washers, period, end of story. As someone else posted recently, POs always say "fresh top end". This fella was no different, but I'll do it this winter. Anyway, so far so good. Compared to the 1985 'Racer--amazing! I'll get some pics this weekend...
