Copper head gaskets are only good if you don't feel like spending money on standard head gaskets during an overhaul.
One of the most important factors in getting a copper head gasket to seal is having the head and cylinder surfaces perfectly flat.
If they're both perfectly flat, you won't have near the difficulty in getting a copper head gasket to seal.
If a copper head gasket is leaking, chances are a regular head gasket will seal up just fine.
Having the head O-ringed is the best solution if you don't feel like buying lots of head gaskets.
