Diagnosing ignition timing
« on: September 03, 2013, 08:18:08 pm »
Pretty sure I have a timing or ignition issue. Need to know how I go about diagnosing what's causing the problem so I can fix it. My gear timing points are lined up my stator is on the marks for stock ignition timing. I don't know where to go from here. Gonna have motoman lend me his stator and cdi to test but is there a way I can check them without replacing them.

you can test the stator.  Don't think there is a way to test the cdi without swapping to one you know works.

With a volt meter:

Black/Red to Black/White= 375 ohms
Blue to Black/White= 120 ohms

Test the pickup too.  I can't remember the ohms for it.  Manual will have it.
