Heard that actually leaving the bike killswitch on and kicking it over a couple a times primes it and flipping the switch will give you a easier start. I remember when I did not know this I'd beat up the sole of my foot from the bike kicking back at me. I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question but the choke has to be as close to the carb as possible  (plastic touching metal) for the choke to be off.
